I think Powell will step down. He was dragged into the administration.

I give the President credit for being a what you see is what you get kind of guy. I have no doubt that Ashcroft represents exactly what he wants in that position. I think Cheney is a lock too. Condi as well according to the role she plays as friend and confident. Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld "may" be on the bubble... one could hope.

As a militeary member I have to say I woulndt shed a tear if Rumsfeild resigned.  My first choice replacement would be Gen. Zinni

I thought Zinni was the guy who has quite different views about how to take care of Afghanistan and Iraq than US Government has. Guess Hell will freeze before he gots the job :D

Zinni says Iraq was the wrong war at the wrong time - with the wrong strategy. And he was saying it before the U.S. invasion. In the months leading up to the war, while still Middle East envoy, Zinni carried the message to Congress: “This is, in my view, the worst time to take this on. And I don’t feel it needs to be done now.”

Do you really think GWB would give that guy a job?

I don't think Rudy wants the job.

If I recall, the last time Ashcroft ran for an elected office he was beat by a dead guy. Ditching him would send a very positive message. Especially given that folks are already worried about the Supreme Court.

Powell kind of blew his wad when he presented all that irrefutable evidence to the UN. He took one for the team, but we need someone who can start a fresh relationship with the UN.

Rumsfeld ... I miss his briefings from during the war for their "Jack D. Ripper" appeal, but he doesn't seem to be that effective since the ground war ended. I think we need someone pretty forward thinking, our military will need to be more flexible in the future.

Rice ... we really need someone more pro-active. She does OK in her role, but her position is too important now to be left to someone who isn't more aggressive.
