UDP port problem - More specifics Please...
« on: December 08, 2000, 02:49:00 PM »
I get the message "Not receiving updates switching to TCP".  The Aces High FAQ states that this is a problem with the UDP packets not getting though because of a firewall.  Since I am my own "firewall" administrator, can you tell me which UDP port is being blocked, so that I might fix it?

Thanx in advance

Check the "internet connectivity forum.

Tons of stuff there on everythign from UDP ports to ping ip's.

May have to search back a ways, Skuzzy is the god in there btw. If all else fails ask him.

If that doesn't work, to to UDP 2000 - 3000.

BTW, if you only get the "Switching to TCP" sometimes, it is general a problem with your connection quality.  If the UDP connection gets flaky, AH will try to switch to TCP for a more reliable (though slower) connection.  If this is happening I suggest you try the alternate route.  You can do this by selecting "Alt route verio" from the arena selection menu.  This will still take you to the main arena, but it will do so by the alternate IP route.  It may improve your connection.
