Change of hit sprites

With AH2, its all looking really good.  Once all the new graphics features, skins and everything get tweaked it should be great.

Now, how about updating the hit sprites we have?  they all look so antiquated.

I wanna see machine gun bullets spark and richochet off targets when they hit, cannon shells exploding on targets.  To me - the current hit sprites are one thing that shouldn't take much to change, but could make a huge difference in visual quality :)
I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

From the gun camera footage I've seen of API rounds (Armor piercing incendiary) from WWII the hit sprite/effect in AHII is quite similar.
I would like to see more stuff fly off though (from the damage), although that should be a toggle switch in the graphics setup since it will make certain ppl's FR go lower than it already is.

So how many patterns should they model if they decided new hit stripes?

For example:
AP penetration
HE explosion

and more?

P.S
By the way, this effect provides exhilaration of shooting to us. I hope HTC will upgrade it in next version.

The simularity in API patterns is because of the overxposure of light in guncam films. I doubt it'd look like that if we see it with our bare eyes.

However, considering the limits of PC resolution as compared to real life, some amount of exaggeration could be necessary for clear hit indications.

If there is anything that can be changed with the current hit sprites, it still has too long of a resident time on the FE. It needs to be more "spark & gone". A little bit smaller size with more high resolution graphics, and depicted much brighter than the current ivory-ish glob.. then it'd be pretty much OK.

The cannon hit effects leaves lot to be desired. We really need those 'explosive' impact effects.

AH2 already shows landing gear, rudders, ailerons, elevators, flaps along with the other stuff that usually falls off.
Showing smaller pieces falling off, if implemented (maybe something generic but dynamic...if that makes sense :o ) might not decrease FR that much if at all.

That'd be sweet.

Hopefully this is the case and I agree that it would be much better visually.

yup, hit sprites are what need most work, followed by impact and vortex disturbance to water.
And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.
