1st film auger.ahf was done with 4 .50s and 25% fuel with DTs in me little p51. Watch the hits on the Spit across center cockpit area. Convergence set at 300. I augered into ground in blackout on 3rd kill,killing my engine. Cockpit area seems to be the right mark for instant kill.

You can see how wide the spread of .50s hit him on the 1st pass. Same on the 2nd pass,but i took a piece of his plane off & he managed to ditch. Compare that 1st spit with the next one. Also,i avoided HO with a Spit to see if 4 .50s could take out a F4U. They can. Last kill was a b26, i removed his wing bout the same time he got mine. But proves my point about .50s.. Get the angle,get the kill

This should give you an idea of why i got 6 kills in p38 with .50s only. Get the angle and go for the cockpit.
Now maybe we can get some realistic fixes instead of imaginary ones
