The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind.......

I think the answer to the sad state of humanity lies somewhere in between.  In between the here and the there.....the fore and the aft....the hither and the yonder, and that quiet little space in the mind where you go just before you fall asleep....I like it there.

I like the Netherlands, been there many times, the Dutch are always friendly, helpful, and the women are beautiful.

I have learned not to get in the immigrations passport line coming in behind a black, he will be spending a long time being questioned and it will hold the line up for quite a while.  Caucasians walk through in a minute or two, so only get in a line with white people ahead of you.

Gotta be careful on the trains, almost had my flight bag stolen, caught  the guy at the last moment with it.   Pickpokets abound downtown, crack deals out in the open, and drugged up beggars are annoying.  But, it is still a great place to visit.

Actually those "dealers" are just there to rip off tourists. I can assure you that there's no crack dealing in the open. It is not tolerated, I was once jumped by the cops and accused of smoking crack because I stumped my cig at a wrong time.

Ok here's a quickie about the Dutch police.

Ahem.

A few years back some bright spark in the Dutch Police service decided they were going to infiltrate the drug smuggler gangs.  So they did, using government funding the Dutch police infiltrated and joined several drug smuggling rings, using lots of communication and police contacts to aid the smuggling.  Ok, so fast forward a couple of years and zero arrests have been made so some high up fella in the Dutch police decided that this operation had gone on too long and it was time to shut it down.  Overnight the amount of cocaine and heroin being imported to Holland dropped by 75%.  It was estimated that 400,000 kilos of class A drugs per year were being imported by the police themselves.

And on a personal note, I had 2 motorbikes stolen while out in that Godforsaken little country and the Dutch police's attitude was "Ja, you must come to the police station to report it.  Ja, you must have the ownership documents before we will start looking.  Ja, we don't look anyway because it took you too long to get your documents from Britain and the bike will be in Poland by now anyway."

Make no mistake, Dutch police are the worst, laziest, most unprofessional Police force in the world.  And that's going some to top the British police.......

This is the impression I got too. My another encounter with them was when they gave me a lecture about jaywalking.

And I can assure you I saw it myself, saw the rocks, heard the price discussion, so your "assurances" don't mean much to me.

sorry,
