"Preparing to play CounterStrike:Source..."

Min later...

"Steam has found a problem with your local games file.  Game files will now be re-aquired from Steam servers."

Click "OK."

Min later...

"Preparing to play CounterStrike:Source..."

Min later...

"Steam has found a problem with your local games file.  Game files will now be re-aquired from Steam servers."

Rinse and repeat...  HL2 works fine.  Whats the deal?  Anyone seen this before?

Steam suxx0rz.

I take it you just downloaded CS:Source? Or did you already have it installed and played before?

Sounds like you didnt wait for it to install/download fully...

If you you right click on the steam icon in the task bar then click on monitor you will see that CS hasn't finished downloading.

Check and see...

You can try cleaning up the CS:S GFC files and redownloading via steam

Goto \Valve\Steam\SteamApps and delete

counter-strike source client.gfc

and

counter-strike source shared.gfc

then download via steam (right click on CS:S and click 'update')and see if that fixes it. It will be a long download.

However, if there was some problem and CS:S need to be 'fixed' via steam by a download are you sure the download was finished?

Did you check the 'monitor' like I suggested? Because the only time I heard on the problem you are having was when folks tried to play the game while it was still dl'ding.

Check the monitor and see...

Hmm... what "monitor?"
It wasnt downloading anything - just telling me it was going to re-aquire teh files.

Ill try deleting it and see if that does the trick.

Ok - second suggestion seems to be working - re-downling the deleted files now.

Assume it will work cause this didnt happen last time.

Thanks!
