Sorry to hijack this thread, but Nate would you mind fixing the inboard flaps on the P38 as well? You have the inboards modeled as split flaps, they should be fowler just like the outboard flaps.

VMF-323 flew off CV's, they were Marines, they flew F4U-1's. (Okay, so they flew off them to ferry A/C to Okinawa, big deal!)

Looks great Nate!  Need some Marine Corp insignias on it!

Semper Fi!

(P.S. Did you guys fix the zoom climb on it yet?)

Natedog, Pyro,

Does this Bird have water injection or not?

How about the spoiler strip on the port wing?

Is there any chance of you releasing this version in the next 10minutes, I can't wait.

Please  :D

Maybe we weren't saying it clearly enough.  We wanted F4F not F4U!!!   ;)  Wildcat, not another Hog!   :D

Thanks though!!

Please tell us we've got a Wildcat or Dauntless for the next update!!   ;)

Looks purty!  Nice big beautiful blue.  Same question as rip though.

Did the zoom get fixed?  If it did, was it only on the 1 or does it hold for the 1D and C also?

Of all of the ac we could have used to round out the midwar plane set for scenario's we get another f4 with the same basic performance as the current one, am I reading this right? Whats the reasoning behind that?   I'm sure there's a good reason for it, but at present it escapes me.
BTW, after having not been able to play for the last month, away on business, I am newly struck by what a great game this really is, confusing new additions or not  :)

I'll take any USN plane with that way cool 3-tone paint job.  (I think the Hellcats looked best in it though.)  Looks like we are slowly creeping to earlier-war planes now.  F6F-3, F4F and Dauntlesses should be coming in a few months along with adversaries.  Oh yeah, and the P-40.  Aces High really has a strong ETO feel to me (at least in the MA other than N1K) and I'd like to see a good PTO plane set utilized in the future now that we have the CT.

Looking at the screenshot HTC put up I'd venture a guess that the F4U-1 we're getting will be able to operate off the deck of a cv since if you look closely at the pic there's the fleet sitting purty there in the background.  :D

F4U-1

417 mph at 19,900ft
rate of climb: 2,890 fpm
ceiling: 36,900ft
6x.50's 2350 rounds
2x100lb bombs
Gross weight: 12,039lb
Max takeoff: 14,000

I can find no evidence of the F4U-1 seeing active US CV duty.
The F4U-1A was the first Corsair to see active duty on a US carrier.

My suggestion:  No F4U-1's available on CV's BUT give it the stiffer oleo struts, and give it an arrestor hook.  At least then a CV can be used for refuelling

The british version of the F4U-1 with clipped wings +) however likely did see carrier duty, tho i don't have any accurate info

Here's hoping that this is the fixed-wing variant of the F4U-1.  It will be significantly lighter and more agile (also slower and no WEP I believe) than the other F4Us in AH.  Basically it will be as different as possible in performance compared to the other F4Us which IMO would be good.
