Luckily the gas stations that were targetted appear to have been evacuated prior to the explosions.

After police dismantled most of the organization (economic infrastructure, recruiting, extortion), this is their way of saying "we are still here".

Fortunately (and I hope I'm not wrong), I think we are witnessing their swan song. Political support from extremists is rapidly diminishing and the people that really knew how to run the organization are either dead or behind bars.
