Iranian F14 with new camo

Iran has started some military maneuvers in West Iran.

Most of the video clip shows army units - like Seacobras, transport helicopters and tanks but there are also pictures of iranian F-14 with the new blue-grey camo-pattern and MiG-29.

If you watch it, its highly recommended to turn off the sound - so you dont have to hear the voice of the poor guy who has to shout against the background noise. :D

Iran has always adopted foreign weapons and uniforms.

During the time of Napoleon the iranian army switched from blue to red uniforms and otherwise from year to year - as an effect of succesful french and british diplomats.

Between 1900 and 1918 the regular imperial iranian army had british-style uniform, the police had swedish (yes - swedish :) ) uniforms and the cavalry was equipped with uniforms of the russian cossacks.

And before Iran was invaded by the allies and forced to declare war against the German Reich its army had german Wehrmacht uniform style - including the german officer caps and german steel-helmets.

After WW2 the german uniforms were replaced by US uniform.
Even after the Shah has been deposed decades ago its not surprising that Iran still have its exotic mix of uniforms and weapons.

US-Uniforms of the style of the 80ties, russian, british and US-tanks, US-and russian planes and german and russian stormrifles.

At least we never had the german pickle-helmet or italian helmets with these feather-ornament :)

Seacobras, Bell 206 and Bell 205´s are produced in small numbers in Isfahan.

That was one of the "positive" sideeffects of the weapon embargo. Iran was forced to build its own replace parts and after the war against Iraq they started to learn how to produce weapon systems in Iran.

Today the iranians are producing in Iran german G3 rifles, german Mercedes trucks, Northrop F-5F jets and the sea cobra/huey.

They also produced a new tank - the Zolstudmuffinhar - which was shown in recent troop parades in Teheran.

One of the actual project is a totally new fighter in cooperation with the russians - the Shastudmuffinh. Pictures of the prototype have been shown in iranian propaganda shows.

Zolstudmuffinhar is the name of the sword of Ali - one of the most important historical persons for the shiites.

It was also part of the imperial lion-crest of the iranian flag  before the islamic revolution.

Yup, that's the first thing I saw too.  Also note that it's only a single engine fighter!
