Seems like a good community. no one has go off on me yet.

Welcome Aubrey to the best simulation around, look forward to many hours of fun after a few of frustration.
It's by no means an easy game to learn but be patient and persistant and you'll be doing ok in a short while.
I susggest new players read the help file, available here http://www.hitechcreations.com/frameset1.html?download.html ,
and visit http://www.netaces.org when you have some free time to learn about the game. A little learning before you even get to the flying will go a long way.
Listen to your countrymen, the green text, and try to get the 'big picture' of the game. There are many ways to play, flying for yourself or trying to help your country succeed.
You can always hook up with a Trainer and get the basics by e-mailing us 'Trainers   at  HitechCreations.com ' or stop in the TA, Training Arena. Most people there are quite helpful but be sure to read the entry MOTD screen, Message Of The Day, for the rules for that arena.

DAMNIT Aubrey! Now your hooked... :D

Well Im Paul, I'm waiting for my new computer to arrive so I can get back into the action. I will be your guide for this part of the post (kind of like the fairy that flies around link all the time in that game Zelda). This game has a VERY steep learning curve so dont worry about it if you get killed a lot. But if you practice for many hours a day, you will become "good" in a range of a year to (in some cases) never. You will either decide to fly alone, in a squad, or as a mercinary type-(not really an in-game option). I would reccomend flying in a squad because it makes the game 20X more enjoyable. If you decide to fly in a squad, I would also recommend not sticking to only one squad at first. Try them each out for a period of a week or so. Once you've found the squad you like, stick wit em.

Seya in the sky!

Nope, believe it or not off the cuff. But it contains most parts of my usual 'schpeel' for new players. I always do update and keep my version of the help file current; "there's nuggets in them thar hills!!"

Am I that predictable?

Actually, we suggest sitting down to play the game.

Hi Aubrey, and welcome to your new addiction!

I'm very pleased to hear that you are concerned with flying in a "non-lame" manner.  This is quite a novel step for a rookie, and one in the right direction.

You can find out the guidelines for online "culture" here:

http://www.netaces.org/ahtraining/culture.html#title

This should show you what's "polite".  The entire site is a great read though.

As some people have pointed out, you are in for a steep learning curve.  That's ok though, you'll get through it.  Get yourself a trainer to get the basics down.

If there aren't any trainers available at a particular time, feel free to contact me and as long as I'm not winging with my squad, I'll be happy to go with you to the DA.  I'm not a great pilot by any means but I could show you a few simple moves that should help you out a bit.  If I do happen to be winging with my squad, heck, find out where we are and tag along! (We're primarily Knights but we can be found flying for other countries when they are very low on numbers)

At any rate, dueling is a great way to have fun and improve your skills at the same time.  If you go in there without an attitude and accept that win or lose you're learning some stuff, it will go a long way towards your improvement.

And if no trainers are available and I'm not on, just type on country channel or channel 200 "Hey I'm new and I keep getting shot down.  Can someone please take me to the DA and help me out?" I'm sure someone will help you.

Hope to see you in the game for many months to come! !
