Can anyone reccomend a good place to play chess online?

If you search the 'O club' for Chess I think they listed a few sites.

Anything but email chess. I had to ignore SOB when it got rough.

Google is nice, but I'm guessing he would be asking by O'Clubbed members experience which sites are best for online play. I play alot of poker online, some are vastly better than others.

I did run a BBS search for chess, but it didn't turn up anything good. I was in the process of scouring google and decided this might get some good results too. Don't worry Sandman, I've got the bases covered.

One day, I'll have to take the time to try and learn the game. I understand the board and the movements, but I can't see what's happening until it's imminent. The people that see the moves five or ten moves before they actually occur amaze me.

Yahoo Chess has the most players at any given time of the day... (side bonus you get a free email...)(runs in browser thru java applet and has rating system..) I suggest timed games because people will lame out to try to get you to quit..(pad their score) 12:00 game is plenty of time for casual game..

some players also use computer assistance... not a problem if you know how to beat computers thru traps... (as long as they are using chessmaster as opposed to deep fritz....)

Excite.com is another good one..

anything free with alot of faces is usally good for chess..

If you are of higher level you may want to pay to play such as kasporovs site etc.....

Yahoo is good for beginners and playing for fun, serious players should not waste time on the free sites, too any bad habits to learn.
