Political corruption

As everyone knows(or has heard about), there is corruption in politics. What do you think should be done when a politician is caught with their "hand in the cookie jar"? My grandfather and great-grandfather were county politicians in Texas and Oklahoma and my father grew up in that enviroment. My father told me once that he'd never become a politician because he didn't want to become corrupt. Is corruption something that comes with the territory?

I'd say yes. When someone is a "decision maker", and that's literally their job, then people will always (try at the minimum) to buy their friendship. As long as power and money are involved, there will always be corruption, regardless of what kind of government, or who is in charge.

power corrupts.
"Willy's gone and made another,
Something like it's elder brother-
Wing tips rounded, spinner's bigger.
Unbraced tailplane ends it's figure.
One-O-nine F is it's name-
F is for futile, not for fame."

it is easy to blame hitler for what the nazi's did...but how much of the day to day do you think that he was really responsible for.

those who had agendas came to hitler.

those who had agendas created him to make it so.

in most positions of authority that i have had, i have felt very much the puppet to those who wanted something.  it is true that it is hard to avoid corruption.

that which gives power - corruptor.

that which is in power is corrupted.

its always best for the guy behind when the noose comes out.

oh, and (edited for personal insult)

:)
this thread is doomed.
