Blue Plane Weenies

I remember a time, not so long ago, when people on the CT boards would complain that there were not enough Pacific setups.  After the past week, I have to assume that all of those people have moved to IL2 or WWII Online or some other game.  I’ve been in the CT during prime time every night since this setup appeared (excluding Saturday).  With the exceptions of Oleg, Grits and, briefly, Eagler, I haven’t seen anyone - and certainly not the CT regulars.  The past two nights it got so bad that after flying around by myself for fifteen and, last night, for forty minutes, I got disgusted and went to the MA, where I received my expected dose of vulching and ganging.  (Had one good fight with someone named PsyOps, something like that.)  When MA people asked me what I was doing there, I was actually embarrassed to have to say that it was because there was no one in the CT.  It was an admission that all the CT-haters were right, after all.

All of which leads me to ask this question:  Is it now officially a waste of time to run Pac setups?

As I stated previously in another thread I will no longer play PAC until HTC takes care of the mis-modelling of the zekes.  The Allied A/C have been ubered up and the Axis have been watered down since patch 6.  You bang a half wing off of the F6F after 8 cannon hits and it now cruises faster.  With flaps it turns inside of the Zeke.  I refuse to spend $15.00 a month to play target tug.  I'll play in the MA with the rest of the HAs.  we're on every night and and I can fly AC that allow me to compete on a more or less even playing field.  I think your question is best directed at Pyro and company.

The lack of posting in this forum alone should tell you something.

I am a blue plane weenie.

I check whenever I fire up AH , and if there is  a few on I'll pop in there , but really the past 2 months there is hardly ever anyone there.

Think some of the reasons have been discussed ad nauseum.

I'll throw this in.

I think new players to the CT  do not really find it a fun or welcoming environment , so as some of the regulars drop off (as always happens) , there are not new players coming in to take their spots.

In the MA they can kind of mix in more quickly with a whole other bunch of new players - it's easier for them.

The CT is very cliquey, the regulars may not notice , but I'm sure the new guys would feel this way.

I've flown sometimes where there is 8 people in a country , and not a word spoken on the country channel for 20 minutes at a time. (this is just one example I can think of) They don't even answer questions , pretty much just ignore you. (luckily I have thick skin)

Generally you get the feeling that if you are from the MA , you are resented  for some reason - it's really odd.

If I didn't enjoy flying with Slash and Duke and Co so much  - to be completely honest , I'd never go in there. If they arent  logged on it's not much fun - so I guess that's how the newbie visitors might find it as well.

Anyway , just my 2 bob Oldman   not sure it helps

PS  And the shame is - it could be really good

Get rid of the BS scoring, it just encourages dweebery

Get rid of the field capture crap along with it

Turn it into a "Fighter Combat Arena" , get the guys in there that love a good fight and let them loose.

When the fights are good in there - they can be really good !

I will go in there tonight and up the A6M if you need something to fight. I will show that the zeke is not porked. Sure you cant just bank her around and abuse her like you use too but she is still capable.

I checked last night during prime time and saw only 1 listed in the arena login.    And that's Thursday night, supposedly the CT's strong night.

Don't know what to say.   I don't think the CT is dead, I think maybe its just restin'.   Something will need to jump start it though - like new planes or maps.

Squads are more important to the CT than the MA - if you can get a couple of squads to agree on a mutual squad night, you can seed the CT with 10-15 people and then others may come in.
I'm not sure what happened to VF-27.   No posts for a long time in our squad forum, haven't seen the guys on in a while.   Maybe they all fly for the Hell's Angels now in the MA.

The key to CT success is Axis players.  No Axis players no CT.  with Axis modelling seriously porked and Allied modelling seriously ubered you have your CT dilema in a nutshell.

Well personally i have never seen an F6F out turning a zeke, unless of course its at high speed where it should be more manouverable.
Problem is if theres less than 10 players in the CT i usually don't bother looking.
As for squads, they are not needed, in fact they can be a turn off.
We have all seen where a squad rolls up and they all fly together no matter how much they outnumber the other side by.
CT also does not need dedicated axis players, especially if they throw their teddies in the corner and walk away over a percieved bias against their rides.
I say percieved because, well i can't see it.

All CT needs is flexible players who are willing to fight in any plane and for any side.

But getting the core to tempt others in is the problem.

Well, you can't say I did not try.  I'll probably try it again but on my last night there, tried to take of from one field only to find out a flack was just sitting on the runway waiting for a kill.  Fine, changed fields, thought I was going to make it in the air this time but the two 110s waiting for the vulch thought diferent.  (Actualy in the CT it is not called vulching because they will wait until you are atlist 2 feet of the ground first).  Changed fields again and did find a fight this time after flying for 15 minutes.  It was a brief 1 on 1 brefore the other 2 showed up.  Now, with 7 people in the CT at the time we had 2 vulching, 1 sittin on the runway in a flack, 1 fighting, and 2 probably looking for a fight and out of frustration the joind the existing one.  That including me and one more frendly makes 7.  Where is the fun or the balance on that?

Now there are some people that will give you a good fair fight like Storch and a couple of others but some of them are a bunch of gangbanging, vulching, alt monky, horder (a smal one) dweebs.  They are killing the CT slowlly but surelly.  It really shows a lot because of the small numbers.

I can get all this in the MA with more choices on where to fight and who to fight with.  So, why bother with the CT then?  It will have to have something to offer to atract new people.

Big <> to the ones that try to make something out of it.

As far as needing more axis players, in my limited time there that is all I have seen.

no offence, but if you cant out turn an f6f... in an a6m... you suck.

only reason i do not fly there now is whenever i go online, there is a big 0 next to the combat theatre.
I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

Same here, only I would say at least 3 on each side, or 2 vs 4, something in that range. I love the CT, but I wont fly there if there are only 1-3 guys up, not much point in that.

Answer to point 1 :-

2 in the civil law of Louisiana : an intentional unlawful act that causes damage to another and for which the law imposes an obligation for damages —compare quasi contract at CONTRACT, QUASI-OFFENSE
NOTE: Breach of contract, offenses, quasi-offenses, and quasi contracts are the bases for civil liability under the civil law. Offenses and quasi-offenses are comparable to common-law torts.
