HiTech, can we please get the KOTH arena back in AH2? Without the high walled arena it isn't possible to keep everyone "boxed in".

rpm,

Your request was not ignored. It has been forwarded to the terrain team. There maybe a compatability problem (AH1 to AH2), they will be able to find out.

Okay, RPM... I found out out a little more about this terrain, and here's what I propose.

We have the old files for this terrain, so we will be able to update it for AH2. However, the current Terrain Editor is not working well enough for one of us mere mortals to create it without also creating a vast number of bugs. The only person experienced enough to do this terrain right now is Skuzzy, and IMO he has quite enough on his plate already.

Now, the new TE is *2 weeks* away from being released, so if you can make do with whichever terrain you're using now, I will have one of my guys make this terrain their very first project with the new TE.

Also, we can then put any improvements that you can think of into the new build. List any ideas you have in this thread, if you'd like.

Sound like a plan?

I agree, a single large airfield is all you need. Add different ones at altitude if you want to accomodate various altitudes for plane performance issues. The radar circle keeps the group together, don't need fancy terrains or walls. With the radar circle you can change it for numbers of players or plane type considerations which you wouldn't be able to with walls or a fixed barrier.
Just my 2 cents.

I understand that, guys, but it's going to be *2 weeks* whether Skuzzy fits it in to his workload, or I do it with the new TE.

IMO Skuzzy has bigger fish right now. We'll get it to you ASAP.

It really does not need many bells and whistles. Just a 25 mile "volcano" like the old arena. Walls about 10- 12K in height and a rough terrain for the floor. I'm sure nobody will complain if we have to wait a bit. Just knowing it's in line to be done is great news.

The only "extra" that it might need is an indestructable factory or some way for Big Max to activate puffy ack when anyone reaches a "CM specified" alt. That way we know when we are about to or have broken the ceiling before the updraft takes over. The ack would'nt have to kill the player, just fire "warning shots". That was discussed by Big Max during the last EuroKOTH. I'll talk to him during this weekend's tournament and see if he has any other ideas.

Once again, many thanks for doing this for us KOTH players. It's my favorite part of AH. Getting the arena back is nothing but great news.

IMO, this isn't even a 'put it on the back burner' issue, this potato is definately not hot, it's a 'darn, I'm bored, what can I do?' thing.
Adding a third to my first two cents.

Anything the terrain team can do would be greatly appreciated.  Either/Both the Wild Wednesday and Eruption Terrains would do nicely.  Personally, the proportions of the Wild Wednesday Terrain Bowl is just about perfect, perhaps an increase in diameter of 25%...  The Eruption Terrain is cooler to look at, but still is a little large for most KoTHs.

If we could combine the two concepts into one functional map, it would be ideal.  The scaling and frame work of the WW, combined with the exquisite artistry of Ruption.  Probably much more difficult that converting one of them?

Thanks in advance... :aok

I would much rather have the terrain shape of the Wild wednesday Bowl  over that of the eruption terrain floor.

makes for having to keep ya SA up.  all the hills/bumps/peaks/ lil valleys etc.......

the color of the eruption terrain in the pit is cool  though.....

but as mentioned before. Just need 1 centralized base in the center.  I never liked the 3 base layout personally of the old Koth arena/eruption terrain

1 base is needed for the competitors to  be able to talk on room channel and not interfer with the flyers still in the air. If you had a 3 base layout it will cause un needed confusion with the downed pilots talking on green channel to each other.
