Hia guys.

Im half Swedish and half Czech. Since sweden was a ***** arse country during the WW2 and there isnt anything in terms of swedish WW2 planes I was wondering of someone could make Czech RAF skins?

There where 4 czech squadrons (with planes we got in game). RAF squad 68,310, 312 and 313. Plane letters WM, NN, DU and RY.

68 flew Mossies, but very late versions. Im not sure what the policy on the skins is. Does it have to be the exact same Mk version?

310, 312 flew Hurrie IIb, Spits Va, Vb and 3 types of IX.
313 flew Spit I, Vb and a few IX.

Two which I would really like to see are the "czech flagged" spitIX of 310 and the blue spitIX of 312. But also SpitV skins.

Thanks in advance.
Tex

Already did a Czech Spit 9 from 312 Sqn (it's ingame).

Was looking at the Czech flag LFIX but I believe that was post war, I'm sure Dan/Guppy 35 can clarify.

The 'blue' Spit is actually med sea grey uppers and PRU blue lowers, the same as the 131 Sqn Spit 9 already in the game. Not sure if HT will allow another 'similar' skin.
Although as it doesn't have invasion stripes it may get through. Only prob would be the pointy wingtips. The 131 Sqn Spit I did had had them removed by DDay and normal tips fitted.

Will definately look at a Czech spit 5 or mossie (although as you said the Mks they flew were a lot later than ours) for you.

Thanks alot Kev!

The Czech flaged ones where used during Jan 1944 - Jul 1944 (with just the little czech flag and invation stripes and Aug 1944 - Feb 1946 (the fully czech flagged) so that should be ok. That one would really really rock.

If you made the sea grey and blue one would it be possible for you to do one with the 312th, removed invation stripes and see what ht says. If its not alot of work.

Thanks in advance.
Tex.

These are postwar markings however, after the Spits were transferred to the Czech Air Force.  They didnt use the markings during the war.

Thats what I thought. Gonna wait on this one.

Check Tex's post a few above.

You got any profiles of Czech Spits not using RAF roundels during the war? Or any unusual Czech spits?

Only think I think you can find is the French Spits that wore French roundels during the winter of 44-45.

I think it came down to simplicity of ID for pilots.  Imagine if you had Spits in Belgian, Polish, Dutch, Norwegian, Czech, etc markings all flying with different roundels over France.  Friendly fire was enough of an issue as it was that adding that to the mix was just too much.

I'll do some digging, but nothing comes to mind.

310 Squadron used the Spit IX from January 1944 to 1946.  They didn't mark em that way in 44 however, only after they returned to Czecheslovakia.

Just to add some specifics to when the Czech Spits got that paint scheme.

I knew I'd seen the date somewhere and a bit of digging found it.

The Czech government bought 72 Spit IXs in the summer of 45.  All were painted in the Czech markings at Manston prior to their departure for Czecheslovakia on August 7, 1945.

I suppose you could argue that the war with Japan was still going on and these Spits were in that paint, but they never saw combat with 310 or any other Czech squadron in that paint job.

Ok digging on some info about the Czech 109s... since Im at work I need somewhere to put the links... this post will do fine..;)

http://p069.ezboard.com/fluftwaffeexperten71774frm86.showMessage?topicID=2.topic

ok done some more reading...

From what I understnad.. correct me if Im wrong...

During the late stages of the war 109s where asembled in a factory in the Czech rep. These where flown by german pilots in the luftwaffe. After the war the czech factory kept building 109s for Czech AF under the company name Avia.

These 109s where not used during the war.

The Czechoslovakia beeing occupied territory and not a german ally ment that Czech pilots where flying under english flag and not german.

There where also Czech pilots in Polish RAF Squadrons and a squadron transfered from England to Russia to aid the Slovakian uprising against germany.
