OK here is the info......

Flying rig WAS.....

CHPro Analog F16 Fighterstick, analog pedals hooked up to same.

CHPro Throttle USB.

Yes I know CH says they don't mix.  Thinkin I should have listened.

Problem  ...  view hat on throttle started acting up for the second time.  This time was having trouble getting the left forward view.

Another problem that SEEMED NON-RELATED is/was MONITOR had smearing from left to right that came and went.  Thought I was going to have to relace it.

Michael at CHhanger is giving me an RMA for the throttle even though it's out of warrenty.   http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1633

or was, if this is basically a USB analog clash or something I don't want him wasting his time or CH money on it.  He and CH have been great regarding this issue.  I CAN"T FAULT their service and it seems their product!

Current solution ........

Removed analog stick and USB throttle.

Using an r-only bit of software and joyclick to run stand alone analog peds hooked to SB512 gameport.

Hooked up brand new replacement  (had a bad view hat [figures huh] ) Saitek X45 with version 3.2 software.  I can't fault Saitek's service either!

MONITOR smearing is GONE?!?!?!?!

Doesn't happen at all now.

Possible??? My connect SEEMS better???

DX thing?????

Any suggestions for this????

It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

If you are enclined to believe that it is a USB vs Analog problem the solution is quite simple.  Buy an analog to USB converter and  make them all USB.  I have run an analog CH F-16 Fighterstick and pedals with a pro throttle usb without problems.  I current run a fighterstick USB and Pro Throttle but still use my analog CH pedals via an analog-usb adapter.  I would still be using my old F-16 fighterstick analog that way but it's handle was broken during a move.  I however do NOT use speedkeys as all my inputs are mapped through AH.

Hope this helps...

I'm not sure it's a hardware problem.  Thinking it's more of a software thing.

At any rate I'm still using W98SE.

I don't know why but the smearing problem stopped when I removed the stick and throttle.

Deguass never helped.

I reinstalled DirectX several times while the stick and throttle were attached and one more time since they were removed.
