You can capture a field the same way offline as you do online.  Simply destroy all enemy gun emplacements, and then get 10 of your troops into the map room.  You can do this with an M3 troop carrier or a C-47 gooney bird.

The only planes available offline are the drones circling the fields.

You can also play in H2H games for free if you like, and if you create an account, there is a 2 week free trial that you can use to play in the main arena for free.  The training arena will also be available during this time, and you can hook up with myself or any of the other trainers for some instruction if you like.

You can also change the time that acks are down (or anything for that matter) by going to Setup, then Arena Settings, change downtimemultiplier to a higher setting. If you just want to practice taking out acks, change protectobjects to 0 & just attack your own field. They won't shoot back, but it'll give you a better feel for your gunnery & dive-bombing on ground objects without having to replane constantly and fly off to an nme field.

You can also change ack & flack accuracy or, at least range in the arena settings.

Hope that helps with your offline practice
