The BBC hosted a unique global television debate about America's place in the world with 10 other national broadcasters.
As part of the What The World Thinks of America programme, 11,000 people in the UK, France, Russia, Indonesia, South Korea, Jordan, Australia, Canada, Israel, Brazil and the US responded to a poll asking their views and opinions on America.

The respondents were asked about their general attitudes towards America and US President George Bush.

The poll also posed a range of other questions on America's foreign policy, military power, cultural influences and economic might.

Click on the links above to view a comprehensive series of graphs illustrating the findings of the poll.

All interviews were carried out during May/June 2003 in the following 11 countries:

Australia - Roy Morgan Research

Oh I dunno just thought it interesting. Working hard here to try and alter the WASP bias on this section of the BBs I guess. It worries me the level of paranoia I read in here and I thought it might aleviate some of the stereotyping that all europeans hate the US.

Good luck with that, your battling 50 years of anger and resentment by most Americans. I watched an interesting debate on PBS the other week, a socialogist said American history can be broke down to 4 era's, Young Americans, Naive Americans, Ugly Americans, and now Angry Americans. So good luck with your efforts, I think your pretty much doomed to failure. Your dealing with the "Yankee Go Home" generation and they have an axe to grind.

Well we must at least be seen as pretty damn important if they feel they need to have a debate just on the USA.

Looks to me like most Euros dont like us.
Not that we care, cause we dont.

Yes, it was coined in 1949 by British novelist Eric Blair.

And if 63% of the world views us as arrogant, I say screw 'em, and let's just do what we want anyway.

It just cracks me up that they feel so insecure they have to have a debate just on us.
