Killing Tigers Training
« on: March 01, 2005, 05:34:48 AM »
Lately alot of people are complaining that it is too HARD to kill a tiger.

Starting this Weds. at 8:30 Eastern time in the DA,myself and some other tanker types will be conducting a training session on killing tigers.

From far away to up close and personal.

We will be using Vehicle base V-37 and V-38,spawning into the city.

It's a chance for people to shoot at me,HaHa!

After testing the theory that a T-34 will not kill a tiger;
It turned out to be true.

It can only track the tiger, that is why we are using Panzers only.

So if anyone is interested ,feel free to spawn on by and take a few shotz!

It isn't completely true, if a T-34 happens upon a Tiger that doesn't have an engine or turret, it can finish it off.

I wouldn't recommend trying to kill one that can shoot back though.

Myself and 1Redrum tested it out.

After 20 frontal shots from 50Feet nothing penetrated the Tiger.

All shots had no effect.

Also fired 20 shots too the rear end of the tiger, with also no effect.

This is a training so when a person encounters a tiger in the MA
and they are in a panzer, they will have a better chance at killing the tiger, instead of the tiger killing them with 1 shot, after you drove a 1/2 an hour, uphill to get the High ground on him.

I did just that 2 days ago,except i drove it 3 times.
3 Times he shot me once and on the first shot too.
I placed at least 5 shotz on the tiger everytime ,with the same results.

With practice we all can be a little better at killing the Uber Perked Killing Machine.

So if your interested ,and just if you wanna take some free shots,
then come on in on Weds. and take some shotz!

i beg to differ with u a t-34 can not kill a tiger at best it will track one{after about 10 or so solid hitsto the track],but i can say for sure that after 40+ solid hits at d100 the best it will do is track the tiger it cannot kill it or finish one offobviosly the tiger is modled without its historicaly acurate "soft"spots,it would be nice to have them modeled into it ..

According to the internet sources T -34 could easily kill a tiger with a side shot, like in a tank battle of Kursk (where T-34 defeated Tigers) T-34 used their much faster turret rotation to shoot a shell in the side of tigers while passing by.

try my test.

Have a Tiger sit immobile.  T34 must get to 1 side of the Tiger, at a 90 degree angle to 1 plate on the Tigers turret.  Fire at the turret.  If the round ricochets, you arent at 90 degrees.  Move and try again.  Once you land a hit that sticks (the big hit sprite), fire at that same spot 2 more times.

In every test I ran (probably 40 or 50) 3 hits to the same 'plate' of the Tigers turret (front right, front left, left, right, or rear) disabled the turret.  After that a random number of shots will kill the Tiger (generally 8-12).

So figure you'll need at least 45 seconds with a perfect initial setup to knock out a Tigers turret.

The problem is the Tigers turret rotates at 6 degrees per second (in real life, not sure about in game speed, it is probably faster), so you have at most 30 seconds to fire at the turret (~2 shots with the T-34), and that is if you are directly behind the turret of an unmoving Tiger.

Throw in the additional requirement that all 3 hits have to be to the same 'plate' of the turret (which was tested as well) and it is a practical impossibility for a T-34 to kill a Tiger.  But in theory, it can happen.

The training session this evening went really well.

I Salute you all!

We started out with basic pointz of where to kill a tiger, proved that a tiger cannot be killed by a T-34,then worked on moving in
a column.

The skirmish went really well too.

The Usual days for this event will be Weds. and Sunday's.

Sunday at noon Eastern time and 8:30 P.M. eastern time on
weds.

If i forgot to mention anyone else, then a Salute too you as well

Excellent session last night.  I'll definitely be back.  Picked up a number of really good pointers...new soft spots and the secret uses of HE ;)

I'd like to see us expand the tactical practice, too.  It's amazing how quickly results improve in the arena when a little organization becomes a factor.

Thanks for putting this together.  I'll be there as often as I can.

Sunday's training event was a very good practice with the columns.

Had some newcomers went very well everybody got along and learned something.Wish we could see more of that in other arena's,but you know how it goes.

4 wolf was an excellent help as well as LilDawg,SPQR,Spudd1,Steph2,and UShilDvl.

We will be doing this event again at 8:30 P.M. Eastern time,on Weds. night.

If more people start attending ,we can split off into different groups to train then BATTLE 1 another.Sounds like alot of fun
hope too see everyone in there.

in the DA a Knight or rook base so we couldn,t see 1 anothers icons while we are fighting, and training.
