'All' radio selection

Since channel 1 is gone and has been changed to an opt-in for channel 200, perhaps selecting 'All' in a radio should tune it to 200?

This may help new players who aren't aware that it's disabled.

But channel 1 is not disabled in all arenas.  CT uses ch.1, as does the SEA (at least until the start of events) and the TA.  Not sure about the DA, but I dont see why it would be off in there.

Also, I think this would be more appropriate in the Feedback forum than the bug reports?  Its not a bug after all.

Good point about the other arenas.

I was just thinking about newbie-friendliness and the secret decoder ring password to unlock the mysteries of AH for those who haven't taken the time to read the entire BBS since its inception. :) Since most start out diving into the MA, it may seem like a bug from their perspective, if not to yours.

It's probably not a bad idea for them to not unlock that mystery until they're safely addicted anyway ;)

I would rather have the radio default to country.

That would be defeating the object.  One of the main reasons for closing the 'All' channel in the MA was because of the first impressions a newbie got from seeing all the trash-talk and insults which were constantly being thrown out on it.  The 200 channel came about because many of us still wanted to be able to communicate with the other two countries, but it is better to have to tune to it knowing what to expect than just having it 'in your face' whether you want it or not.  Besides, it only needs to be tuned to once.  :)

Alright, I quit. You guys win. Please ignore this entire topic.

I was just pointing out that sometimes new people ask why they can't tune to "All" in the radio pulldown. Then someone eventually explains to them that they have to type in 200 into a channel or use the .radio method.

Then they ask (like the silly people newbies are): "Okay, but why is there an 'All' in the pulldown menu if it doesn't work?"

That would not be defeating the object since neither 'All' nor 200 are there by default. I give up.

LOL! :)  Well, the answer is that 'All' still exists as a channel but it is disabled in the MA.  However, it can still be used in other arenas so still needs to be available.  ;)

Heh.  Sorry man, I'm not tryin to knock your idea.  Its good that you want to help the newbs coming into the arena be less confused, and in principle I agree with you.  However, until the "radio" system gets a little more flexible, if it does, they are just stuck with it that way.  Perhaps HTC could add a note to the MOTD for the benefit of those newer players?

I think that when someone tries to use channel 1 in the MA, a dialog box would pop up telling them to tune 200.
