That was nice!

What's up with the CT? I was in there last night and it was like to old days. I got in a fight with (can't remember the name) and it was great. I lost of course, but it was a fight, not an HO fest.
As with all things, as soon as it started to be fun, my internet connection died.

 What a great time.  :aok

as people actually start to learn ACM many see the futility of a HO and avoid them to manueovre into a more favorable attack position.  but make no mistake the front quarter assault is and was an often used method of attack and a few skilled players will positively nail you with it if you allow them.  while I'm not as skilled as most given the correct angle I'll take a HO from time to time.

If you see me on and feel the urge ask me and I'll show you some moves that others have taught me and one I developed on my own.  you can avoid any HO you don't want to be in with any of four simple moves.

A dead wings level shot firing from D1000 until one of you blows up is a HO, turning in a fight and getting a front quarter snapshot is not, so Storch is correct. I actually practice offline with the drones doing high deflection front quarter shots, and it helps a lot, I can post a film if anybody is curious about how I do it.

Just at the point that I had really given up on the CT and was about to write it off, things do seem to have gotten a little better. I have no doubt whatsoever that a large part of that is late Pac setups (which I used to hate) are now basically even matchups planewise with the Ki84.

... most fun I've had with this game yet.

I was flyin out of the Jap bases and gettin bounced by the US planes from on high..

Usin the 61 & the A6 tryin to make them miss & slow them down.. Skidding to avoid the Front Quarter shots...

>>but make no mistake the front quarter assault is and was an often used method of attack and a few skilled players will positively nail you with it if you allow them.<<

Yeah I got nailed more then once but I learn quick... :P

all the things that the vets had taught me so far & (even a few more spur of the moment things I didn't know I could do) came together to make a hell of a good time...

I miss the late war planes but I feel like I'll be a better Pile-it for flying these early planes & having to really get the most out of them for the kill...

>>As with all things, as soon as it started to be fun, my internet connection died.<<

oh & I have the same trouble Phaser11

ROFL...this IS late war for the CT. We see '42-'43 the most with a good bit of '44 thrown in and very rarely '45, but thats as it should be for the CT IMO. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that if you learn the '42-'43 planes in the CT and go back to the MA you will be a better pilot.

WD, glad you had a good time, the CT can be loads of fun, but it can be a weenie measuring testosterone (or estrogen in some folks case) fest also, you just gotta let the background "noise" roll off your back if they ever direct it at you.

I was only in the CT for a short time last night but I had a blast.  I'd come to disdain the Ki84 in the MA - just too easy to kill - but last night flying against the 84's showed me just what the airplane is capable of in the right hands . VWE - I expected you to do the standard MA thing - be too fast and blow on by below me (die and learn I guess:D).
I didn't notice any problems with friendly collisions on last night and the arena had 25 (give or take) people in it for awhile.

the problem prior to the last patch was that the zekes were stalling at under 250 with even minimal control imputs.  HTC claimed that no changes to the modelling had been introduced but inadvertanatly some changes were made and in a roundabout way corrected.  the same thing applies to the 109s.  most of my kills in this set have been in the Ki61.  the Ki84 is a POS in this game so I won't bother with it.  perhaps later on the gods of AH will decide to correct that very flawed model.

The Ki84 is one of the top 5 air to air planes in the game from any country. It owns everything in the Allied planeset short of the Tempest on the fast end and the SpitV on the slow end, anything in between is meat on the table for it.

I'd like to agree with Grits on this one, but my personal experience with it leans more towards Storches view.    It's probably me, or my control input setup.    I love the rollrate and powerful gun package but the elevators seem very heavy and mushy to me.   The view out of the cockpit is poor.   Plus the fowlers don't extend until you are so slow that you are dead meat for anyone anyway.

No sour grapes here, I tried it and like Storch just prefer the Ki.61.

It is nice to see the CT come around again.    Its great to have Jester and Lowe back flying, and you'll never find a classier opponent than Oldman.

You two are both wrong.

The Ki-84 kicks ass

The P-38,47,and 51 are a match for it. So are the Corsairs and Kitty for that matter. Your hands are full if the Ki driver has a clue though.

Do you have combat trim on? Like the P-38, the Ki84 MUST be flown with combat trim off or it is a horrible POS. Turn off combat trim and trim manually and its like a completely different machine. I suspect those that are having problems with it have combat trim on.

I fly many engagements with combat trim on and don't have any trouble. I'll shut it off when diving from alt after running Pony-Jug-SillySpitty but mostly I just leave it on. :aok

Try turning it off, you're missing out.
