Gunnery Distance Measuring

OK, Maybe it's somewhere but I haven't found it yet.  When we see a distance on an icon showing 1.5 does this represent 1500 yards, feet, meters, WHAT?  How about when we get within 1.0 K are we then in feet, meters, yards, WHAT?  And finally, convergence is that in feet, yards, meters, WHAT?
