New Version 1.02
« on: April 07, 2000, 07:33:00 PM »
Version 1.02 is now available via auto-update or from our download page.  There is also a new optional Hi-Resolution textures file available on our download page.

1.02 README.TXT

This version of Aces High represents a big change in terms of gameplay.
There are also a lot of other changes that have been made as well.  We
do expect to have to make some adjustments in the short future due to
the limited amount of real testing we can perform.

Added 8 person free multiplayer support.  This function is accessed
through the H2H button on the main menu.  This feature allows you to
host your own 8 person multiplayer games or join others who are hosting
games.

Added ground vehicles.  A Panzer 4 and M-16 halftrack have been added.
Vehicle bases are found throughout the terrain and are have a V in front
of the field number instead of the "A" for airfield.  Vehicles work
similar to bombers in terms of using the guns.  There is a new vehicle
keymap and the gunner keymap has been giving additional entries.  If you
have remapped your keys before, you will need to manually map the new
gunner keys.  Driving vehicles is simple, shift the vehicle into gear and
push the joystick forward to accelerate, pull back to stop.

Added a new terrain.  New airfields have been laid out too.  A new radar
object at airfields controls local radar availability.  Bombing the tower
no longer serves a function.

The Typhoon and C202 have been added.  The Typhoon's Sabre engine rotates
in the opposite direction of most engines, so the nose will initially try
to pull to the right instead of the left.

Some cosmetic fixup was performed on the 3D model of the B-17.

Additional functionality has been added to the interface.  Squad leaders
can now upload squad graphics and URLs to have them appear on our squadron
web pages.  The plane selection list can now be sorted by fighters, bombers,
and vehicles.  An arena configuration menu has been added to the setup, more
functionality to this will be added soon.  Links to webpage help and plane
stats have also been added.

The map zoom feature can now be mapped to keys.

The squadron highlight function now highlights squad members on the map.

The .salvo command now defaults to 1 and saves your last settings for each
plane.

Changed ack values.  More acks are now at fields, but they are individually
less deadly.  We haven't implemented different types of anti-aircraft yet.

Fixed a sound bug and changed engine, wind, and stall sounds to be 2D sounds.

Switched to a new font and made icons smaller.

Map sector activity bars now scale correctly.

Fixed a gunnery bug, made some minor improvements and changes to gunnery.

Made changes to the plane's damage models, most notably on the bombers.

Fixed a radio bug that was tuning private channels randomly when one person dumped.

Fixed the bug that was causing the frontend to hang on disconnects.

Fixed the non-sorting retracted tailwheel bug.

Fixed a bug that was causing flaps not to increase lift as much as they should.

Made country strategic status available on the clipboard in-flight in addition to
the map room.

Fixed rotations on bomber turrets.

You can no longer try to join a player as a gunner from a different country.

Bombers no longer receive killshooter fire against other friendly bombers.

The war now ends when a country has no airfields or less than two fields of any type.

The mouse has been added as a mappable controller.

The Windows2000 mouse problem should be fixed.  We have not yet tested this, so W2K
support is still not official.
