CT how does it work?
« on: March 25, 2005, 02:58:34 PM »
I am new and hear alot of how the CT is much different than the MA I know about the plane sets etc. I look and lot of times I do not see anyone in the CT, when I log on. SO does that mean if I log on there I can have free hand all by mayself and do anything I want? or is there a set mission? I guess I could go there and look, but I am afraid of messing something up by accident.

In the CT its a two sided match up. We shoot historical match ups with aircrafts from certain time periods and maps to match. They are not 100% historical due to some limits on available planes. You may end up with a plane that actually wasnt used in a theater during the particular time represented or some times planes are subed in for a plane not available in AH right now or for the sake of game play.
Missions are set up on a somewhat regular basis to run on thursday nights. The most popular of these will be a bomber mission with escort with another group of fighters who will intercept. This thursday night would be a good one with the late war ETO set up running. I know of a few squads talking about dropping in to take part. These guys along with the usual numbers on thursday nights should make for a decent turnout. Alot of nights wont have the same numbers but good fights can still be found. Its usually nothing more than air to air combat. Even with 15-20 guys you can have a blast. It takes a few guys to drop in and stay and that draws more in. Week end afternoons see decent numbers as well. The CT used to draw alot better numbers before the switch to AH2. It has been a slow crawl back to where it was. Come by on thursday night and give it a try. Monitor the CT BBS and look for a mission to be posted and times for thursday.

What Slash said.

On a more basic level, you can do absolutely whatever you want if you enter the CT and it's empty.  Bomb a vehicle hanger, strafe the ack, practice the handling of an airplane you may never have flown before.  Try not to bomb the fighter hangers at nearby airfields, but don't worry too much about it if you're alone.

You might also try what I do.  If there's no one in the CT, I'll go in and pick a plane I need practice with, look at my watch, and decide that I won't leave for 15 minutes.  Can't think who first came up with this idea, but it works well.  Load it with 75% fuel, take it up to 6k or so, then just get a feel for how it works.  Usually someone will see you in there, and come in to join you.  Then the crowd builds.

Thanks for stopping by, we're really glad to have new folks.

If you like flying allied see Lowe who is putting together an allied squadron and needs some help fleshing it out. he puts together successful squads from time to time.  I believe it is the 325 checkertail clan or something to that effect.  there are two active axis squads as well.  JG54 has the most members and tends to dominate by virtue of sheer numbers as we are usually always on in the evenings and usually fly together.  lately we have taken turns flying both sides.  IMHO it's the best arena for quasi-historical fighting in the game.  If you hear or see an opponent he's not always in a spit or La7.  some of my most memorable fights have been when only 4-6 guys are on.  yesterday afternoon during europrime time cavalear blunted his guns on my head but I had lots of fun none the less and batfinkV is also good for a few fights in the U.S. late afternoon as well.

I just re-joined the 325th VFG. It's under command of Stream. I'm just a pilot in training learning the system of the 325th.

Aubery if you interested in joining a Allied squad some of us 325th guys will usually be around. I cannot speak for the squads commitment to CT that is still up to the leadership. However new pilots are welcome in the 325th and the leadership has setup a top notch training program. Let me know if interested. You can e-mail me @ johnvan52@yahoo.com or visit the 325th website @ http://www.virtualcheckertails.com

If you like Axis aircraft, JG-2 , and JG-54 are both filled with some of the best sticks in any arena. The choice is yours.:)

Really the only bad thing that you can do is reset the map; don’t capture all of the bases on one side or it will reset and screw up the map.

I guess there’s another thing now too, don’t shoot at friendlies (green).
