I'll just ask, do you believe that I should not be allowed to defend myself (with a gun)?
I'm not a gun-toting member of a separatist militia, but my wife and I have had 2 very specific threats/actions made to/against us to which law enforcement officials basically said "nothing can be done". Since they could do nothing, we were left to our own devices, which may have meant defending ourselves. Isn't this a basic right? Or in the words of the quote above a "primary law of nature"?
I have since moved and left the gun we kept with a relative, but in light of the quote (and your comment) I just felt obliged to respond.
Well hmmmmmmm......
OK .......
To me ..... reality is such that a 250lbs fresh outa prison workout yard guy with a pipe, or 2x4, or length of chain, or knife, or ??? can do pretty much whatever he wants to an unarmed person he might catch somewhere all alone.
To me ..... if one of the two must die, I would prefer it be him and not his victum.
To me ..... if neither one dies but one is left in very bad condition, say crippled for life and/or maimed, I would prefer it be him and not his victum.
To me ...... the person going about their life troubling no one but minding their own affairs verses someone intent on harming others for their amusement or advantage, is the more worthy of the two. I vote for the peacefull mind their own business individual.
Furthermore IMHO someone's childhood may have been terribble BUT it is an invalid excuse for committing ANY crime!
Furthermore I'm REAL tired of getting BLAMED for their childhood!
To me ..... the things I own are not mere material objects but also represent my life. In that I have spent hours of my life earning them.
To me ...... when someone, anyone, violates my home, my property, my family, my person, or my rights without an extremely good reason AND a properly issued warrent, I get, justifiable IMHO, angery.
SSSOOOOO IMHO if you are one of those individuals that basically goes through your life with NO intent to amuse yourself, or seek an advantage, by using violence on your fellow human beings .........
then not only do I believe you have the RIGHT to defend yourself, family, rights, property, etc.....
BUT it is your DUTY! Your duty to yourself, your family, and to society. As we are all depending on you. All happy that you exist.
IMHO the firearm is the equalizer! Be you a 98lbs vs the 250lbs, male or female, old or young, if that 250lbs of trouble comes your way, you have the ability to stop them, with deadly force if necessary.
If i'm on the jury that hears the facts and the facts state you were defending, then NOT GUILTY!
Don't care what the judge says. And a bad law IMHO is far worse then NO law. My duty to myself and my fellow humans when I am on a jury is to look at the facts and consider the issues and vote my beliefs. Not be forced by any Judge, or law made by a politician, to vote against my belief. I believe that is also my right!
I very firmly believe in individual rights. That's why I have such a difficult time voting democrate any more. Can give you some quotes made by some dems that turn me away form them. Same with some republicans.
Was being sarcastic I guess......
If you find my post on any other thread relating to firearms and the right to own and bare them you will see the above is the case.
