GV's and field capture ?
« on: April 05, 2005, 07:03:47 PM »
While the CT struggles for numbers most of the time,  what is the point of having GV's enabled  ?

I happened to look at a film  the other day when there was about  18 players total in the CT  and around one base there were 5 or 6 GV's.  That's just one base , god knows how many there were elsewhere.

I would have thought that the point is to get as many in the air as possible while the numbers are fairly low.

No wonder people come in, fly around for a while , can't find a fight , leave and don't come back.

I know I'm only a casual CT'er, but it just seems  kind of dumb.

The suggestion has been made to make bases uncapturable.  I say allow folks to play how they want but make base capture a chore.  minimum 50 troops and hardened structures.  If folks want to drive trucks then it isn't up to us to say whether they can or not but in the spirit of realism the bases should be very tough to capture and easy to defend.  make them hard won victories or frustrating defeats.

I would agree with you on player choice if there were 100 ppl on-line (or even 60)  - then folks running around in gv's is no big deal.

But at the end of the day - it's supposed to be a flight sim first and foremost, why piss around with the GV element in the CT when it only distracts from the main focus of the game.

CT doesn't have the critical mass to support GV's .

How many planes are modeled and how many GV's?

Its a flight sim with some distracting GV's.

And politicians say they care about the average family man.... but that's just patting the tank dweebs reassuringly on the head and sending them back out to play   ;)

aces ,  which is derived from the latin  "people who do good flying" , and high as in latin for "in the air"  leads me to believe that first and foremost it's a  flight sim.

(along with the fact that there's 231 available planes    vs  2 trucks and a couple of tanks)

Oh, ok.  I must have missed the part in my history class about the Germans producing P-51's, and the American Zero factory, etc.  That explains why we have the same country's aircraft shooting each other out of the sky.....
Maybe the CT could be said to be a WWII sim, but the MA???

and your point is???? just cuz the MA isnt historical doesnt mean its not a WWII sim. IF it was a flight sim then y did HT make GVs and PTs in the first place?

For people using a mouse ?

but

Debating whether its a flight sim or WW2 sim is not the point.

What I am asking is whether GV's and field capture make sense in the CT.  If the CT came to be known for the quality of air combat surely that would be something that would help differentiate it from the MA , and perhaps over time foster and increase the player base.

The MA has plenty of GV and field capture stuff to go around.

If it got to a critical mass of 50 or 100 folks on a regular basis , then sure , let the GV's roll
