I'm at work right now. Stock exchanges, markets around Europe are open, and trading. I think this is just not right.

All our governments had spoken and, as usual, mourns, condolences, "deep" feelings were offered. Yet when it comes to facts. NOTHING is done.

Why the heck stock markets are still open, when U.S. one is closed? Is it ethic that when americans come to work on wednesday or thursday, the find markets some 10% lower? Is it right that we feel the pain on U.S. situation, still we can't join them in their pain, and take a break to rethink and pray?

Man, I'm really ashamed. Shame on us

I think we should be declaring some time of international duel about this. This thing is too big to limit it to nice words. Words are important, signs are more. Market operation today is making money over the blood of inocent people. It's stupid too. Is taking advantage over people who [edit]can't[/edit] possibly act.

I'm sure most of the people who died if asked beforehand would have said that they wouldn't want the US or the rest of the world to come to a stop to mourn them. Life needs to go on. The terrorists want things to stop, they want us to live in fear of them. That's something we cannot allow. You want to support things, then don't give in to terrorists. Don't live in fear, and don't suspend your lives to mourn. Carry on with your life, but keep the slain and their families in your hearts and prayers. You can show your support and respect without putting your life on hold. I'm sure the victims would want it that way.

I believe any type of returning to normalcy is a score for the world. So far,after yestereday, the score is Terrorist 1, the world 0. The sooner that the world can get back to normalcy, the better. US Stock market will re-open tomorrow.

No way. It's nothing to do with normality. It's got to do with ethics. It's got to do with pulling alltogether. It's got to do with solidarity.

Of course we all want to be back in normality the sooner the better. Even the world won't stop for any of us, I feel the need of stopping my own part of it in simpathy for the ones who have it's own stopped. Besides that, It makes no economical sense to trade today.

How to put this... What happened in New York is without doubt beyond words. Teams of specialists in all imaginable areas of work are coming from all over the world to help America. I wouldn't doubt the solidarity of any country, specially not the NATO allies.

But when the stockexchange in Tokyo was bombed, trade went on in America, didn't it? See, America has an influence on the world that goes very far, I don't question that, and I think it is mainly a good influence, but that doesn't mean that Europe stops trading when America stops. Say that some loonatic would do something equal in Brussel (capital of Europe), America wouldn't stop trading! Because there is money involved. And when Money is involved, everything else comes second.

But I do agree. Trading should have halted atleast for today. On the stock exchanges in the Netherlands they had 2 minutes of silence today, and Friday is the european day of mowrning (<---sorry, thankfully I never had to spell that word)

As much as we'd like the world to stop for us at a time like this, it just can't happen. Business has to go on, that's a cold fact of life. Stocks will slide no mattter what happens in the next 2 days.

Alot of peoples lives are tied up in those markets openning today, so for that reason I can't harbor any ill will to them. US exchanges open up tomarow, i'm sure down from the start only to get worse. When I get laid off I'll go sign up in the military I guess in hopes of getting to kill some of the people who did this to us.
