ahh not used to this computer yet. how do i reformat my harddrive?

Easiest way is to boot up with the WinXP CD in the drive.

When you get the filesystem options select format as NTFS.

no i couldnt figure out how to make it boot from disk from startup,

i figured it out. had to restore defualt bios setting first to get windows disk to boot.
