The Blame Game
« on: March 08, 2001, 09:40:00 AM »
Well...everyone in America wants to know who to point the finger at about the California school shooting. Some say blame the parents, some say the kids that knew of the attack, and some say the gun makers.

What is all this? There is no one else to blame but the kid who pulled the trigger, bottom line. You can't blame the parents, they didn't give him the gun nor did they make it easy for him to get it. He stole it from his dad. A gun lock wouldn't have helped. If he wanted it bad enough, he'd get it. Also how can you blame the kids who knew of the attack? These kids were expeled (told not to come back) because they didn't warn anyone. Andy always said he'd do it, but he always said he was joking. How were they to know that he'd do it? Finally, blaming the gun. How is the gun responsible? Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Set a gun on the counter and stare down the barrel. Do you think that gun's gonna kill you? NO! It won't kill you unless someone pulls the trigger.

Using a gun to keep people from picking on you is not the answer. I know this. Andy was too quick to find a fast way to solve his problem...

Oh, it was the answer alright. It wasn't the answer the bullies expected, but it was a brutally effective answer.

BE NICE! Someone might shoot you.

Andy's problems are just beginning.
Andy was not taught the proper was to solve his problems!  Nor, it appears, was he versed on right vs wrong.
There is some small measure of blame that should accrue to the parents on these accounts.

This is just my opinion I could be wrong.

...his cellmates probably have a pistol waiting for him.

"Is that a gun in your pocket or are ya just happy to see me?"
