Greatest Heavyweight of All Time?
« on: May 27, 2005, 09:42:24 AM »
I watched Clay/Liston 1 (for about the hundreth time) and man o man, if he wasn't the abosolute quickest heavyweight I don't know who was.

His best years were before he was stripped of his title, but even after a three and a half year layoff he managed to become champion again.

Marciano?!? LOL Surely you jest. He was about 5'10, 185, and drug his right foot behind him so he looked like Quasimoto in the ring.

Ali woulda picked him apart.

Ali...Louis...Tyson...

George Foreman..go ahead and laugh, the guy was a monster in his prime, and not too bad in his 40's, either...even gave evander a serious run for his money...

Definitely the most marketable

Ok.  Ali?  Joe Louis?  George Foreman?  Certainly among the best of all time, although I think I'd have to give it to Foreman as the toughest and scrappiest of the bunch.  He just wouldnt lay down and die.  Even after........what, 13 kids?  Those grills?  His daughter boxing?  Still looks like he could go back into training.  But the best fighter overall?  Lennox Lewis.  He's smart, uses tactics in the ring to wear down his opponents, AND has the guns to slug it out with just about anyone toe to toe.

Max Baer.  He killed 2 guys in the ring.  And without him we wouldn't have Jethro Bodine!

bit more like 210lbs ish there for Rocky.  Woulda been a heck of a fight both in their prime.

I think Tyson at his best could have beat any of 'em tho'.  Tyson had great defense, and the best knockout punch in fighting.

Tyson vs. Ali?  Tyson in Two
