Actually the Mongols had sullied Japanese soil some years before - their fleets were destroyed after the landings.

I thought their fleet was destroyed at sea off Kyushu by the "divine wind"

I guess I shouldn't get my 13th century Japanese history from I Was A Kamikaze[/b].  Sure the author was a Japanese guy, but he couldn't have been the brightest one...
