Chimp, SA2, I checked out your films. They're pretty good.

If it's not too forward of me, Chimp, I have to say you're not leading enough on high deflection shots. You need to fire sooner than you do when the enemy is about to zoom past your gunsite. You're pressing the trigger when the site image isn't correct. Other shots you seem good with, but on those 90-degree straight-down into the plane shots, you need to fire sooner.

SA2, I liked your 3rd film best. That is to say, I started out hating it (15 minutes of nothing, followed by 7 minutes of good fighting), but once the action started with that oblivious 110 kill, I thought it was the best of the lot.

Like I said, you can see the improvment.  :)  There's roughly nine months of flying mostly in the Hog in between that first film and the last one (which was taken last night btw, on the only run I had time for before the wife-ack shot me down).  As you can tell from the name I chose for myself here, I favor lots of speed, pick off the oblivious plane, and exit.  As good as the SA is on most folks here, you'd be surprised how many I can get like that.  And thats why I've come to like flying the Hog so much.  It has that speed, but when it gets down and dirty it can hang with just about anything but a spit or a zero.  Well flown 38s and Jugs give me fits, and a good stick in a P40 can wear me down if I'm dumb enough to blow all my speed (which I am lol).  That G2 in the last film couldnt get away from me, but he played it smart and stayed just out of my reach while the La-7 setup for the kill.  I didnt have enough speed left to get any separation, or I would have tried to at least get them both on one side of me instead of one in front and one behind.  That poor guy in the second 110 just had no clue.  I reversed on him and he lost it and augered.  :)  I love it when that happens.  Saves ammo.  :aok

Btw, I meant to trim the first chunk off that video, I just wanted to get it uploaded before the wife dragged me away from the office.  I'm lucky she didnt grab one of my guns and blast the computer lol.  Sorry for the dead stuff at the start.

This also showed me the real value of something like Eskimo's "worst planes" contest.  You fly those planes, you really start living E management, or you die quickly.  Even if you arent good at conserving your E in them, you take whatever little bit of improvment you DO get, and carry it with you to a more modern plane like the F4U that really benefits from even the smallest bit of E savings.  You can see the increases in your performance and your skill level as a pilot right off the bat.  For guys having a "slump", or are bored, or whatever, I really recommend flying one tour in the old stuff.  The challenge of staying alive in a P-40B in the MA is exciting.  What you take with you after a month in planes like that is priceless when you move back to your regular ride.

I was going to trim some things on my films as well, but I couldn't figure out how!!! There used to be an easier way, before the film viewer was re-coded.

I don't know.. it had a few good moments... I think the action could have been better, but you're limited to your footage at hand. I might have chosen a few different angles and so forth, and had I a copy of FCP HD I'd have edited it a lot differently lol :)

Nice fun thing to watch, though.

I liked it as much for the tricks you did with the video as for the flying.  I do know I love watching someone who knows how fly those things.  In the right hands, the Tempest and Typhoon are two of the deadliest planes in the game.  You showed that off pretty well.  :)

Well, to be fair he did spray a lot lol!!

Just kidding :)

Those things can be hard to haul around, and you did a nice job of it.

Let me ask, do you use rudder pedals? I have a hunch that most of the "good" pilots, that are good with difficult rides, use rudder pedals.

Thanks Dipstick.

As for some of the comments before, well we all can look back and think we can do something better.  I made this in 24 hours maybe even less than that.

I didn't fly the Typhoon that much maybe 3 times total when I shot this.  I usually fly the P-40 or the P-51..  I don't furball... I hunt... it might be viewed as dweebish... but hey that's the way I fly.

Yes I have rudder pedals... CH set up.

If hunting is dweebish Stream, I'm right there with  ya.  I love cruisin and lookin for the setup, and then totally ruining some poor sucker's 6 kill sortie.  Maybe it just happened to me too many times and warped me lol.  Whatever it is, I get a perverse pleasure out of picking off loners and the unaware.  A good 1 on 1 is always welcome, I enjoy a good dogfight.  But furballs are a picker's paradise.  :)

The film was entertaining, but it was missing something.  Maybe it was just the type of action you showed.  Meaning, you showed the typhy shooting down an aircraft, but never showed the merge, if there was one.  (Also, in my opinion, I don't like the song)

The typhoon is great with speed 220+.  Almost all planes in the MA can outturn the typhoon under 250mph.  Only reason why they typhoon seems to outturn others when slow is probably because it's already on your six and you are either just starting your turn or you are not turning hard or long enough.  If you can kill many planes without E advantage in typhoon, they you know you are a good typhoon pilot.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

And of course anytime I get a good run going myself, Kermit seems to be there to end it for me.  Or Yoda.  Bastiges.  :)

It isn't whether you win or lose, but if you can give the other guy a good fight.   SA2, you are fun to fight, you should send Stream a few films of you in your typhy, cuz his fighting doesn't do justice to the Typhoon 1B.  No offense Stream  :D
