Well again i am delayed. I guess getting the CD from them is my only choice.  I tried to DL it 9 times. Keep getting error message AH #####"s EXE is not a valid WIN32 Application.

Any suggestions on trying to fix this?

Do you have a CDRom burner? Try saving the installation download to a CD and installing from it. You might also post that question in the hardware/software area of the forum, or for that matter under general discussions.

If all fails give a call to HTC in the morning (9:00 am CDT) at 817.251.1540. Ask for Skuzzy. He's the goto for tech support.

eagle, i had the same problem with it, i think its an error in that DL patch. somethings up with htcs server stuff. this happened a few moths ago. try again tommorow or something. if you hang on for a little while (couple of days) it should get fixed. dont waste money on the cd.

As much as I hate to say it, being a fan of local inexpensive dial up type ISPs, I find it much easier on my temperment with this game having a DSL connection. Main reason for that is I have a quirky 56k modem in this machine that doesn't maintain a high download speed. So, I want to go up for a few flights, try to login, then I have to download some update to play the game that could take fifteen minutes or even hours. Now, I hardly notice it with DSL.

Along that line, a suggestion for those that are using 56k dial ups. If you have a friend with a broadband connection, see if he or she will download the game to a CD for you. When I first started, back in January, I dreaded the thought of downloading the 85 or 90+- megs for the original download as it would have taken many hours with my modem. Heck, even with a good 56k modem it would take hours. So, I e-mailed a friend who had a cable connection to see how long it would take him to download it to a CD. He immediately e-mailed back and said he'd check.

He calls me inside of five minutes wanting to know exactly what I wanted downloaded. I told him and asked how long it would take. He said, "Hold on. It's just about done. There, I got it for you". He downloaded the whole thing in about six minutes and once you have it on CD, you don't need to worry about downloading the whole thing again until they come out with a new version although it's still nice to have broadband for the, sometimes frequent, updates.

Good News/Bad News

Good News: I finally got it DLed

Bad news : I learned i can't keep a plane in air.




When i get into i dive my controls seem to be sluggish.
Also for some reason when i tried to set my JS commands my Js has went completly inoperable any suggestions

Have you calibrated you joystick in windows and in game(clipboard - Setup/controls/joystick/calibrate stick)?


Also, if control get sluggish in dive.... check your speed: if youre too fast your plane compresses and you loose flight controls authority.

I fly european times evening. If you like you can send me an PM and we can setup some time in training arena for trouble shooting. You can also try to get hold of someone from the trainer corps at trainers@hitechcreations.com. Or just pop into training arena. Most times youll find someone whos willing to help you.

Dont get frustrated: AH has a steep learning curve. But its really worth it, in a few weeks youll think back and laugh.

Thanks for the info. I once played a land warfare sim that also had steep learning curve but now i'm considered a major threat. So i'll keep crashing along.

This game is some of the best $ I've spent. The learning curve is good, the challenge is even better.

Word of advise, don't get caught up in the stats, it's all about having fun. Even veteran pilots get shot down. ( I know because I actually shot a couple down and was amazed to see their name pop up) New guys, like myself, will get shot down alot. The cool thing is for $14.95 a month you get all the plane you can crash!

Truer words were never spoken. Rank means sh** regarding skill. you can easily obtain a very good ranking, without displaying any skill at all. And some of the 'lower' ranked... well, you dont want to meet them in a dark alley. Then theres also the fact that overall rank can be very different from fighter rank for example.

Me personally dont care at all for my rank. (As you can easily see when checking my stats). I do monitor K/D and Hit% though, since they give me an impression of improvement (or none). Always dependant on the plane i fly of course.

Have fun. Thats more important than anything.

Agreed. I follow my rank but am more concerned about having fun and, quite honestly, making a good account of myself. For instance, if I show up alone at an enemy airfield and end up getting shot down, I don't really mind as long as I feel they had to put some effort into shooting me down. I feel kinda like, "hey, there was five of them and one of me, but they had to work to get me...".

For rankings, I mostly keep track of my kills per hour (or is it sortie?) and hit percentage to see if I'm doing any better statistically. I also always look at the ratio of sorties flown to death. I get a little bumbed if I get killed in over half sorties flown. Luckily, I usually survive over half my flights, but not by much. Of course, that doesn't mean I didn't bail or get captured, or ditch a lot. But I don't mind those and figure a ditch, being quite a challenge sometimes, is underated by the game.

I have noticed i seem to always be the slowest plane in the sky.  Yes i am on dial up so i expected delay and lag but.
'Is there a way to fix this.


Also i notice i always black out in turns that are not as tight as planes i am fighting. Why  is this any ideas?
