56th "No Show"
« on: August 12, 2005, 01:34:21 AM »
Hi Gents
I'll try to explain what happened from our perspective this Frame.

I've been getting ready for a family reunion and marraige for the past month or so. I didn't place much thought into the Frame as my mind was elsewhere.

When the email came around listing the squads which haven't picked sides, I didn't respond figuring our squad would then be removed from the list for the remainder of this Frame. I was terribly surprized when I received the orders from the axis CO, after telling my squad we wouldn't be flying in the Frame while I was gone.

I asked a member of the squad to cover for me while I was gone, and I sent the Frame orders to the squad. Time didn't permit me to update the XO email on the Frame site, and I didn't remember about this till I was already gone. I didn't even know there was a problem till I got back home and read my email.

There was no intent on our part to bail on any responsibilities. I'm back now, and we'll be flying tonight if there's no problems with the CM staff on that.

Nomde, one of your guys (have to look back in the threads here) told us that 56th  pulled out of FSO.

So we dropped you for frame 2. You are also not assigned a side in frame 3.

Little too late to fit you into things tonight.

However, if you want to start up again the next FSO will be in two weeks (Invasion of Sicily). I would just need to resign up to the event on on the events site and have an XO.

Actually thanks for pointing that out TracerX. Nomde if you and your guys want to fly tonight show up in the arena and see what Axis squads have not maxed out (they haven't been maxing out in frame 1 and frame 2) and then have your guys ask and join those squads (i.e. USMC).

Then for next FSO reform as 56th and fly under your own colors there.

I will inform APdrone and Axis COs / XOs of this.

Technically speaking wouldn't that be considered a "walk on" if not can the Allies pick up a few extra players to?

Technically nope. Because they have made arrangement before the event to fly with squads. They will first fill up the USMC and if they max them out another Squad can take them.

The allies can do the same thing .. as long as the people coming into the arena have been contacted before the event (i.e. if you go into the MA say 1 hour before or so and say if interested come fly with the X squad in Squad Ops in the SEA) then everything is kosher.

So arrangements have been made and members of the 56th briefed and will be flying with the USMC and only if they max out will they then go to another squad.

327th when they flew allies did the same thing .. they thought they might max out so they contacted my squad before the event to see if it would be fine to take their overflow.

GD,
No one in my squad, including myself ever signed us up for this frame in the first place, can you look into this and let us know who did.

This isn't fair to me to have to rush around and send emails out to my guys I know they'll never read before the frame starts. Now i'll have to disband the squad in the SEA, then re-invite them at another point in time?? just to fix someone else's mistake??

I'm not disbanding the squad for this.

TracerX, thanks for offering to take us on :aok But unless some other arrangements can be made, we won't be flying tonight.

Can't you just fly under your existing squad?  I don't have to invite you to our squad to fly with us do I?  I can still limit the squad size to the maximum wether your showing in our squad on the roster or not.  Hope it works out.

Nomde, the standard operating procedure is if we don't here from a squad who has done several FSOs that we assume they are still interested and use there old committment level numbers.

For some reason we always have 1 or 2 who don't confirm through the event sight for each FSO. So we give them the benefit of the doubt.

Now in your case we gave you the benefit of the doubt for frame 1. And then for Frame 2 one of the CMs tracked down one of your pilots who told him 56th had withdrawn .. bad terminology on his part .. I am sure he meant just for this event and not squad ops in whole.

So I pulled you guys from frame 2 and frame 3.

As you said finding out the day of you are still interested is just too much of a headache to get you in as a squad in frame 3. Orders already sent out and allied squads switched to axis to make up for numbers.

So easiest thing is just enjoy the night off and in two weeks you are back in for the next FSO.

Basically problem was or is that we give the benefit of the doubt if we don't hear from a regular squad like yours. Then it was just pulling teeth to hunt down somebody while you were out of town to get an answer one way or another .. and then just a mis-communication or misunderstanding of what was meant.

Don't worry about it.

Ok, Thx GD

I do appreciate your effort with automatically signing squads up for the new frames. This is the first time for ours that this kind of thing has happened... and last. :o

I do know the amount of work everyone puts into doing these things and i'll be sure to leave more notice next time.

Cyas next frame  :)

Nomde,

I need you to register the 56th for this FSO. Go to the following page and register your squad please:

http://events.hitechcreations.com/squadops/registeruser_fri.php

Then I will need a side request and committment level from you for Operation Husky.
