I read in AF times that it was actually being delayed from service entry.  Don't know why though.

cuz we cant make up cadences that rhyme with "m8" yet. "m16" has that nice quality name that rhymes with cool stuff like "lean and mean" and "killin machine" and other stuff. m8 just rhymes with..."aint it great".

if it is put into service i will tell you guys how it stacks up with the m16.:aok

The M16, although it has made great strides towards reliability, still has a major fault of direct exhaust gas contamination of the rotating bolt assembly/chamber.
The AK series has a piston that keeps that exhaust gas out.
I've never seen a failure to feed malfunction from any AK type rifle.

Actually, the M16 is quite the rifle. Just gotta keep it somewhat clean and use decent ammo. I would not lose sleep if I got "stuck" with one. Nice shooter.

yup rifle cleaning in the field is a must.  I have no faults with it, the dam thing is accurate.  I was allways proficient with it on the range even out to 500 yds.

now they have the M16A3/4 and all the different M4 varients with all the cool modular attachments.

The M8 is supposed to be a very reliable weapon and even more modular than it's predecesor.

naw you can grab it by the barrol and swing it like a bat just fine.  It probably wont shoot strait after than and require 20 clicks of windage so who knows.

The XM8 is losing ground... H&K have already offered a different rifle, the HK416 Enhanced Carbine. Basically, H&K replaces the M4's upper receiver and barrel. It introduces a new short-stroke gas piston and a new, more reliable magazine design. All standard add-on hardware now used on the M4 can be monuted on the HK416. Also in the picture is the M468, with the new 6.8mm x 43mm round.

You can read about the HK416 here and here.
