Hi

Here are some pictures from latest Arace6b7 air-race terrain.

It have a new brighter objects and CM managed startgate.

You can see how startgate is working from this zipped wmv film (~1.3M).

The P51D race skin is made by Raptor01

Hi

Terrain is available here  Arace6b7.zip (1.1M).

Terrain have P51D and P47D30 custom race skins are made by Raptor01.

Dusters Low have a "hard sky" above the circuit. Stay under ~1000ft ASL.
Also whole souther half of the A1-field is covered with "hard sky". Pylon tops show the max flight alt.

Terrain it self  is still very rough in many ways. Well, I am a real sunday TE user so, be gently
- Dusters Low field is reskinned water to boost fps.
- Some terrain alpha files removed due some flicker prob.
- All pylons should have some kind of cement look like bases.
- Limestone walls should have "ravine slope" base with alpha.
- Startgate is a real first shot prototype.. and it works :)
- finishgate is just half done

I develope this terrain slowly to test different ideas.

Jazz, it's simply wonderful!

You already know this, I love Arace. The tracks are wonderful for racing, and now you're slowly but inexorably turning it into a joy for eyes too!

Keep up the great job, mate, I can't wait for challenging you in this marvel!

WTG! :aok :aok :aok

HI

Thank you for your feed back.

After several run in h2h, I notest,  the pylons and Lime stone walls really need some kind of bases. Currently those are "hanging" somehow above the main terrain. Gosh! I really hate this texturing stuff

People were asking, what are those "6, 4, 2 and Too late"-marks (3rd picture). Well, those are reference points in yards for Braking and for Turn In. You maybe laughout now, but try to do 4 laps in row with ME163 + 100% fuel. You will aint laugh anymore, boy!

IMO
There are two very critical turns. Turn 2 and The Turn 8...

T2
If you take it too tight, it will blow your every turn untill turn 6.

T8
If you take it too tight... O well, say hello to the Aluminium Headwall... There are arrows to aim for proper enter path. It's just the timing, which count after that...

Do you have what it takes in Dusters Low ;)

:)

I forget to add, The Dusters Low is design for The Fastest AH prop planes. With the prop planes it is a nice & neat sunday country side sport crusing. With jets... Your virtual pilot will scream all way to the finish line... If he/she still can.

looks neat Xjazz.  I noticed the start, how do you manipulate the board for announcing the start?  I like the brake markers and the direction arrows.  I love the skin.  Miss America has always been one of my favorites.  We need Dago Red, Strega, and Rare Bear on an F6F maybe?

Hi TracerX,

the startgate is made with three different objects
- 2 trellis textured VOD0 pylons
- 1  plate shape, which contains actually 1 living and  1 dead STR0 objects.

So, CM/HOST can kill living (HOLD!) object and dead (RACE START!) object will be visible.  I made those both objects as a "Collide ON" ones.

[dream mode on]
Same way (some how) it's possible to made a active "Finish" gate.

Living object would show in top bar a"Go! Go! Go!" text and dead object would show a "Finish" text + static checkkered  non-collision flags both side of the pylons.
[dream mode off]

What?! Do I sleep?! Wah?!

:)

Hi J!

I just tested the map online, you weren't there (btw, do you usually see the messages that I leave you in the radio buffer when I leave? Just curious ;) )

It's really an amazing work, the only thing that i didn't like is the water texture, I hope it's just a temporary solution... it can improve fps, but it's really harder to race in  that condition, I found it difficult to understand what your height is without looking at the altimeter (I have animated water on, I don't know if this can have influence on this issue).

Aside from this, the usual great tracks in a more gorgeous than ever package!

Thumbs up! :aok

P.S. Now I understand why it's not good to climb at more than 4k in Canyon.... me and sneaker1 did that with Fw190, and we both lost wings after the finish line! :D

Hi G,

I see buffer 20-30 message backwards. So, its up to folks "talk mode" after you leave :)

I will test a standart AH-textures in Arace 6b8 version. The reason for current texture setting is/was a old giant threes. Lets see.

Actually currect version is a very clinic and distances/sizes are difficult to define.

Well, with threes & farms texture you will be way too common with "Fauna"... Timber!
:)

Looks good Jazz, though my P51 skin does not look as good in 512x512, Perhaps I should have sent you the 1024x1024bmp, but that would have been 4 times larger and made it a bigger download.
Did you use the La7 skin?

I will surely feel like at home, when you'll have reskinned the map! :D

Just one thing I forgot to tell: the startgate is a great idea, but if host is not in, people can't make it work.... or am I just too dumb to make it work?
