Gilligan's Island was right up there in rank as one of the best TV series ever made. It made me think, how did the castaways have it so lucky, with Mr. and Mrs. Howell's money, the Skipper's inspiration and wisdom, the Professor's brains, and Ginger and Mary Ann's good looks. All good folks too. They had whatever the job called for to survive and thrive, yet Gilligan always messed up the rescue one way or another, and usually saved the rest of the crew through his foibles. Gilligan's Island (and Gilligan) was a service to humanity, and made us laugh.
Salute to Bob Denver. A decent guy who served humanity by going the distance in the entertainment industry and without compromising his integrity and soul.
I think 200 years from now, Gilligan's Island will still be popular, as it should be. Bob Denver reminded us we're all human and have the ability to laugh at plans gone aray and press on.
