Hmmmmm... My crystal ball is on the fritz, so I will just make some wild a## guesses

No on the Axis vs. Allied Arena issue to replace the Main. From what I have seen so far, HTC seems committed to the simulation/game remaining "fun".  And this format while more historical just isn't "fun" for alot of people.

No on a RPS. While I think the idea of a RPS has merit, it also has its problems.  I believe this is why the PPS came about (Perk Point System), a potential alternative to the RPS. Will it work? That we will have to wait and see.

Maybe on a Historical Arena(HA).  I think the biggest issue here is that the player base must grow, and also show that there is interest in such a format. In other words, if they start to support the special events that mimic a HA style setup, then you might eventually see one. Otherwise, I don't expect to see one anytime soon.

Just my predictions

agree with verm allthough I just can't see the perk system working for anything except to add a few fantasy planes that a lot of people will find they wish never had shown up in the game.

RPS, whatever so far nothing has worked that well to introduce early war planes.   I think if we are to see early war planes it will have to be in an inovative way.

Well...my hope is that whatever HTC does will work...perhaps when the (active participating on a regular basis) player base is 400 or so, then possibly we could just have two MA's...one early war, one late war.

This debate is old...very old...to try and please everyone will lead HTC to the poorhouse in a hurry...I suspect they are trying their best to identify and persue the customer base which they feel has the greatest potential.

Remember this....whatever they do needs to be fun! Those that wish for more realistic simulation are not wrong, but are most certainly in the tiny minority.

Count me in as one of those that would like to see everything used operationally included in the game at some point.

RPS has problems, Perks have problems,  early war/late war arenas have problems, Axis vs allies has problems...hell MA fantasy has problems....whats a fella to do hehe?

I agree with verm on everything but the HA.

I actually don't think an HA would work well either.  I find the use of the words "historical" and "arena" in the same sentance somewhat of a oxymoron.

I'm for a continuing historical "event" system.  It would take alot of work and some programming accomodations by HTC, but I think there are things that would be great for everyone.

How about this:

Squadrons sign up for the event and participate as squadrons with rank in place.  The squadron signs up for very specific times and the managers (who act more as generals) assign missions to the squads.  This missions will be realistic in nature.  Everyone participating has recorders on.

The missions will be accurate based on the plane assigned to the squad.  If it is a P-47 squad, they will recieve joint attack and escort.  P-51's will escort buffs.  Spitfires will fly defensive patrol.  LW planes will do their thing.

When a squad of P-47's goes on a Jabo mission, they may or may not encounter fighters on their way to the target.  There won't be any kind of "You will be meeting x ammont of x aircraft on the way" planning.  It is up to the units to prepare for it.

Any kills will be awarded by the event managers after a review of the film.  Anyone that is killed, can re-join at the next squad night, but must be reset in rank and treated as a newbie.

Basically, there needs to be an attempt to make more than just the machups historically accurate.  Tough missions and easy missions.. unknown elements.  Flying to live combined with flying to accomplish missions.  That, in my oppinion, would be a blast.

You may like what we have in store for the next multi-frame scenario, Deja. Let's just say that there will be an air of mystery and uncertainty at least in the beginning.
