Mines
« on: October 03, 2005, 10:19:06 AM »
Just crossed my mind. How about mines?
Droppable by some bombers, bobbing in the sea untill some timeout, so that one can have a go at those cv's especially in narrow cirkumstances.
Then, there were minebusting aircraft. J52's at least!
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Land Mines! You could mine the runways if you were about to lose a base and plant mines around the map room and make them persistant like the real thing so they could lie there waiting....forever.:D

I already suggested mines in the Sunderland thread I started below. I think it'd be an interesting addition.

And I was joking. I get killed enough by people controlled ordnace. We could just go back to lethal rocks.

Yeah but you're talking about land mines and we were talking about sea mines.

A little input - the mine sweeping Ju52.
Flying low detonating mines with some kind of magnetic field.

AFAIK various aircraft were used for minelaying and the Brits even mined the Rhein and perhaps the Maas.
BTW somehow the Germans floated mines down some dutch canals in WW1 - I've seen a couple of those in Holland.
Now used for flowers.

Yeppers.
The second option is going to be THE SUBMARINE. :D

Then we'll need anti-sub ordnance as well.
