A Bad Day
« on: August 04, 2000, 10:12:00 AM »
* Drive an M3 to A27, which is ripe for the picking.  Arrive at base, all cap move away due to bingo or winchester, see a friendly tank on the field get jabo'd, no cons in the area, sneak on the base, here comes an easy take, a single ack comes up, dead.

* Ten minute drive to V58 in my M3.  Wait 10 minutes for the jabo attack.  Suave does a beautiful job of clearing the ack and the VH.  Run to the base, drop troops.  Wait!  No troops running!  What's going on?  Press every  button on the joystick.  Press every button on the keyboard.  Nothing!  What, are the frightened?  Oh no, here comes a Nik.  People screaming at me to drop my troops.  Get a few pings on the Nik but die on the first pass.  Back at the VH - OMG I never took any troops with me!  How the hell did I ever do that!?

* Pissed at myself, grab troops this time and charge V58 before it comes back up.  Sneak past two cons otw.  Field in sight, less that D3.0 or so, oh God here comes a 190 up my six!  He's low and pointed right at me, he must see me.  Here he comes, driving like hell switch to the gunner position and start firing, few possible pings on him, me getting ripped on the first pass, try to swing the gun around and get him on the climb, second pass I'm a goner.

* Screw V58.  Get a C47 to go to V56, which kbman has kindly dropped for the second time in an hour.  Nice flat terrain south of 16, hit alt-x at 100ft and go out for a smoke.  The terrain rises slowly, get back to the computer just in time to see me auger.  Promise myself to give up smoking.  Ready to bang my head against the wall.

* Let's try an M3 to A27 again.  The Rooks have been going at it there since I signed on, nearly two hours now.  It seems that it is again ripe.  Three (yes three) C47s are already near A27, apparently only one gets about 4 troops in.  Charging the field; hear calls that the VH and FH came back up.  Near the field, still ok, a fighter takes off and sees me.  This time there is cap so he is followed by at least three Rooks.  I get some pings on him and get an assist.  I'm on the field now, he spawns again.  I need to cross the runway to get to the map room!  Veer towards the bomber hangars to try to keep out of sight.  The vultures keep him down.  Start my charge across the runway as he dies; now he's spawned in a B26!  I shoot down the runway on the run, get some pings, the vultures get him before he even shoots at me.  Oh crap, I've overrun the map room, where is it, having a hard time finding it, there it is, close, ahhh crap the B26 has respawned and is shooting me, dead.

* Throw some nasty words to the B26 "driver" and log off.  Did some dumb things last night, but that one is pretty stoopid.

* Damn glad not every night is like last night

Fury I'm sorry for the rant I posted in your bomber thread.  We all have bad days and at least you are man enough to admit insulting my CO was a mistake.  I'm sure you would have given your virtual life to defend your country at all costs as well.

I hope you have a better night tonight.
