Can you get hooked on ebay and similar stuff?
« on: November 19, 2005, 03:58:38 PM »
Im in on my sixth "round" this week. Granted, im bidding on stuff I want but its kinda nervewrecking and fun to see if you get what you want for a good price.

i "won" three auctions this week and so far i have not been screwed.

So far ive spent about 3000$ and its been worth it, but this is almost as addictive as gambling.... or atleast i think it must be.

Sadly yes, some people do get addicted to ebay shopping.  Not sure how, but they do.  I buy something off ebay once in a while, if it is something I need or want, but not too often.  Pretty much got all the thinkgs I was looking for or needing.

hopefully your not one of those stupid people who bid on stuff over time.  Why do people bid against themselves?

I always punch in a bid in the last 10 seconds or so.  You can also use auction snipers to do the same thing.

Its not my breath your smelling, but if you get off your knees and away from my butt, you can check what my breath really smells like.

Wonder if there is a cure for excessive drinking for sale on ebay, if so, there might be help for you yet beetle.  :aok

I do a fair bit of what shopping I do online for that reason, though not necessarily ebay.  Lot easier, but have to pay the shipping.  Trade off for convienience I guess.

No sales tax though (yet).  That kind of makes up for the shipping.  Although I'm sure they're going to "fix" that situation shortly.

give the wife an ebay/paypal gift card for Xmas
they have fun shopping for a sale and they get more bang for the buck and you don't have to take them to the mall :)

I think Ebay is addictive. I see people paying over the odds for things they could buy brand new in the shops (including internet shops), especially when it comes to DVDs etc.

The only other explanation is there is alot of dirty money to be laundered these days.

Nilsen,

Ebay is as addictive as any other form of gambling.

Atleast you get something for your money. Its not as bad as gambling in my opinion. Im addicted to AH. I certainly get my money's worth out of it, but thru my addiction, I often sacrifce productive hours, of earning time, or around the house time, to play. So in that sense its not what I lose from my addiction..its what I dont gain.
