Stuck gear woes

A brand new Gulfstream on it's first corporate flight after being purchased by NIKE is circling with a stuck left gear. It took off and the gear didn't retract. The left main is stuck half up. They are now burning off fuel to land. I betcha that Gulfstream has some red faces right now. I believe it's happening now in Oregon. CNN headline is covering it.

im guessing they will fly it around for hours to burn the fuel off.. ?

They landed ok.

"The Gulfstream jet touched down at 12:11 p.m. at Hillsboro airport, the same airport where it had taken off bound for Toronto around five hours earlier. The right main landing gear on the jet had become stuck shortly after takeoff but was successfully unstuck and extended after the crew consulted with Gulfsteam."

This was interesting to watch today.  I muted the television set for the most part but still learned that chocks might be tangled in the landing gear door, the emergency blow-down system is actually an explosive system which uses an explosive charge to blow up...and then I guess...blow down the landing gear and that "There were 7 people on the airplane, 4 high ranking Nike officials and three other people of some kind on board."

My guess is the main gear slammed into the gear door upon initial retraction, got stuck there and didn't come back down when they reselected gear down.  The airplane landed with that gear door hanging so I think it's safe to assume they hit with a pretty good thump.  Also the inboard wheel on the right main looked to be damaged while taxiing in.

Good show...and the talking heads don't get their "big fireball" as some newsb1tch so nicely put it.
