Interview with a Dutch WW2 Pilot
« on: December 22, 2001, 10:26:00 PM »
During an interview with the BBC a Dutch flyer, fighting with the British RAF was asked about a particular engagement..

"Vell.." he said in his thick native accent.."Ve...vere flying across the channel vhen ve sighed some twittlers at our ten o'clock...high"...

The interviewer, well briefed on the various German aircraft, quickly explained to the audience that the Focke-Wolf German fighters were commonly refered to as "twittlers"...

The Dutch pilot shrugged and contined with his story....

"Zen all of a sudden we spotted another group of zees twittlers directly below us...."

The interviewer smiled at the camera and joking said "Yes...ladies and gentlemen...the planes..."

The Dutchman looked at him and said..."No...zees twittlers were flying messerschmits!!!"

  :D   :D

1)   that joke was old in 1960.

2)   a Dutchman wouldn't say that.  When questioned all Dutchmen merely repeat "Ja, is not possible." over and over until you go away.

We Dutch people called the germans in the war no 'twittlers' but 'moffen'.

Ahh Christmas...a time for laughter and joy...and grumpy old men too apparently.  ;)

It is a old joke, but a good one that I only heard recently.
