Rip, simply look at the accident statistics.

If USSR had the same "technological culture" as Western countries - Boeing, MD, Airbus and other passenger plane manufacturers will be bankrupt

Remember the only crash of the IL-86? It was parked on an airfield in India and crashed by a 737 that felt on it

I worked five years for Boeing as an AME inspector and I wasn't all that impressed with what they would pass off.In fact,a 95% of the assembly line inspectors were just seniority guys with no training.As for Boeing costing 3 times as much,that's cause they not subsidized like USSR.(Or Brasil)

SirLoin, now Russian aviation industry isn't subsidized at all. The planes are indeed 3 times cheaper, and airframes maybe 5-10 times cheaper.

With all due respect, I don't think you really know what your accident rate is. As censored as your info is, how can you state you know? As free as the press is here, the government can still kill a story anytime it wants/needs to. If they don't want it dead, they'll just spin the facts to their advantage. We are all pawns in the end.
