urgent help with AutoCAD 2000
« on: July 15, 2001, 03:46:00 PM »
Sorry guys to post it in here, but I really need your help ASAP... I need to finish some project really fast and I cant figure out one future of AutoCAD... the way you can break line on the scetch.. you know, when its like really long compared to the rest of the drawing. Example could be drawing of 2 electric poles with wire attached to them. Height of poles would be 20 ft and wire is of scale: 500 ft. Now I need to cut the wires and leave space between them to preserv the drawing and place 2 poles close together.

Once again I will be greatfull if someone can help me out..

Thx and <S>

I don't know ACAD, but my wife does. This is what she told me. Hope it helps, and that it is not too late.

"Use "break" command, either from "modify" menu (top of the screen, if this
option is used - from tools, options, display, display screen menu: checked), or
choose icon "break" or type "break" (alias "b" could work as well).  The other
way would be to use "trim" command but that requires two lines intersecting the
line to be broken.  F1 key starts Autocad help, which gives pretty good
instructions for each command."

Thank you Mielta and thanks to your wife too.. Its not exactly that i wanted but i endup going around it and manualy breaking lines  - inserting little wave lines at breaking point.

EDIT: I think that the TRIM is the thing i was looking for.
