Dang Toad, that brings back some memories. I had a 69 Road Runner w/383. I took the six pack and cam from a 440, stuffed it with some Hooker headers, Edelbrock 3 duece setup, already had the cast iron 4 speed and shoved a Dana60 (3.73:1) under the back end.

Yep, they did not handle well, but holy puppies, they could get down the quarter post haste. Best weight transfer of any stock car I have ever driven.

Ahhh, music of the mid to late 60's was sweet. Real rock.

I had one of these.. bought it when I got outta the army. A lil present for myself.

Whot an animal. Could corner very well for a freakin freight train and do hole shots that would snap your neck.

Had a 428CJ engine.. rated at about 335HP, it put 397hp up on a dyno without any specialised tuning. Had a Borg-Warner box, and a rear-end set up for highway work. I truly LOVED this car.. took me 4 years to get my license back after they impounded it.

(Had a heluva road race with a pair of Barstow CHP Dodges one hot summer day. When the cop finally had the handcuffs on me he thanked me for the "..most fun I've had in the last 5 years in this stinking desert")

I was born too late. Not only was I born too late to fly a spitfire against the Hun but I managed to miss all the cool music and cars and stuff too.

But.....wait.....these days I can play around in a spitfire without all the hazards (well, maybe Jenga but thats another story).....and I get to ride *really* fast bikes......and the music is all downloadable anyway......ok, never mind. You old farts can go on without further interuption

Hmm. born in 1964, but had older brothers that kept me in the era before my time. My earliest recollection of the first album I ever saw/listened to was when my oldest brother brought hoe Hendrix' Axis:Bold as Love. I thought, man what a wild looking album cover, then he put on the record, and I haven't been the same since (thats why I play a 'Strat).

I never owned a true muscle car but one of brothers was friends with a family that owned a Chevy dealership and raced stock cars. One of them had a Superbird (wings and all) that he drove on the street. The other car he had was a 396 Nova SS that was a real sleeper. He put a lot of time and effort into the suspension so it would turn as well as it scat.

The summer I worked for a local parts distributor, one of the salesmen there had a beautiful white stock bodied 1970 Challenger (think 'Vanishing Point')that had a 440 knocked out to 500ci with a big lumpy cam in it. Man what torque that thing had, just idling, the whole car would rock from side to side.

One of the guys I delivered parts to fixed old exotic ferraris in a dingy garage, and he told the story of the guy in NJ in the 1970s who had somehow gotten ahold of one of the original Cobra Daytona Coupes (of Pete Brock fame) for cheap and flogged it around as a daily driver with a small block Chevy in it. Apparently he had no idea of its true signifigance and thought it would be a neat street car.

Those were the days.
