"Walker did it. No one else."

Surely it can't be an example of free will. Someone[/b] needs to be blamed!

Speak for yourself pal.  Some kraut, that made his bones killing allied pilots, while fighting for fascism, will have no respect to diminish.  May he rot in hell.

Spoken like someone that has never been in the military. I'll let you in on a secret. While we were in the military, we didn't get to choose our fights and oh by the way, once a war starts, the government won't let you quit and go home.

I have a problem with people that kill Americans.  Im just funny that way.

Oh. and BTW. LBJ "just quit" while I was still in Vietnam.  Apperantly it depends on how high up the food chain you are.

Yeah... you're probably right on that account. I stand corrected.

Would you have felt the same way if you were born in Germany in 1920?
Americans may well have be on the side of Right this time but, unless you are an immigrant, you are an american only through an accident of birth.

Your association of our right to defend ourselves with respect to the enemy is ridiculous. What would you have done if for some reason (nazi's taking power in US) you would have found that US is on the wrong and the enemy is respectable? Would you let them kill yourself?

While warriors strive to kill (or, more generally, defeat) the enemies, they do not usually feel the need to toejam on their graves or take away their humanity(practice of taking ears/scalps or eating liver nonwithstanding - it is more along the lines of pride and respect then humiliation). That is for the civilians to do in liew of actually risking their lives.

I bet that many soldiers down in the trenches in the middle of rainy night empathise more with their adversaries then with their own civilians cuddling to their wives in warm beds.

During last years of WWI russian soldiers often had practice of fraternising with the enemy - german soldiers. They shared food/smoke and played games among the trenches and then went back to killing each other.
Then those soldiers went back home and participated in one of the bloodiest civil wars in history killing their own civillians with cruelty rarely seen before.
WWII russian soldiers never fraternise with the enemy though - Stalin made sure they were afraid of their own komissars more.

Also, as I mentioned elsewhere, Walker's parents may have been free-wheeling lefties, but his views are typical of fundamental religious right. Just check what he thought about women, gay, religion, commercialism, etc.

BTW, guys - if you find yourself offended or puzzled by some statements in my post, take a minute to reflect that my (and otehr people) concepts of respect, honor, bravery, dedication, victory and even death may be slightly or very different then yours.
That is a facinating topic by itself.

Many smart people felt the need to understand morality and way of thinking of the enemy to more successfully resolve the conflict (defeating the enemy usually, but even that is not always the final resolution). While doing that they often came to see their adversaries as humans and gained some respect for their ways.

he's like a lot of other milky suburban, tofu-fed white boys that want more conflict in their lives.

they have no pride in what they are or identity. being black gives them a struggle but thats an affront to blacks if you ask me because having a little marin co. wuss take up your cause is worse than having him as n adversary.

i remember friends in 8th grade all of a sudden magically switching ethnicity somehow at the onset of highschool to fit in.

it was either fit in or face getting jumped everyday by wanna-be gangsters. i chose getting jumped and even egging it on by wearing an excess of safety pins... :)

me: hey white suburban spoiled friend, how's things?

friend: yo 'g', it be all coo wit me yo. jus tryin t'chill wit ma dogs potnah. <in the background: boom, boom boom bass basss bass>

me: um?, your name is brice mcgee not skeeter wilson, you live on happy elk lane in the new housing edition, what's with the dialect.....?

the overwhelmingly lopsided majority of people in "consumerica" are weak, herd following poseurs.

this boy is a jellyfish and should have found his own identity with or without his willowy parents. who cares what happens to him... he's just irrelevant to me.

Gotta agree with Miko on this one.

Timothy McVeigh served in our armed forces before blowing up the Oklahoma City federal building.  Do you think he made it through basic training without being told no by his drill seargent?  Was he raised in Marin County by liberal parents?  You could go back through history and find any number of people who have commited evil, been guilty of treason, or made a serious error in judgement that might cost them their lives.  The vast majority of these people were born before this type of parenting was ever seen.
