On the north side of A2 we ran into the same thing, there is a patch of greyish coored ground just before all those little hills (the ones you can see), and its full of invisible hills.

might be you dont have visibility turned right, gotta turn on ground vis and push those sliders up. Tho i havent sat in a gv since when i first started in 2003.

It has occured several times this go around with this map.  I've found myself surrounded by what I call invisible trees as they are usually on the edge of a forest thicket.  That thicket is not usually on the direct path from spawn to base, but on "the rough" to one side or the other of the direct path.  I'm trying to flank wide right or left to avoid detection, passing close along a treeline when "bam", I'm stopped by an invisible tree.  Try to back uo, adjust direction, go forward and "bam" again.  Once I was nearly surround and took 5 minutes to find the "open" area that put me in the ambush.  Amd of you're not cafeful in the backing up, etc., "Boom" you flip the flippin' tank.
