I have been having to drive from Victoria to Austin almost every single day for the last week and I am amazed at what i have been seeing.  Once you get near san marcos and are headed in to austin suddenly the speedlimit has no meaning, the speed limit was 60 i think as I merged, I wasnt looking at the speedometer but once I got up to pace with the other cars i glanced down , 94! Yup 94 in a 60 and I was getting passed frequently.. so later when we were returning the traffic wasnt as thick and I was cruising at pace with the other cars at about 80, the all the sudden WHOOSSHH! this Corvette shoots past me so I decide to see how fast he is going I start speeding up. 95...100..105...110...125.. at 130mph I started to gain a tad so he was going a bit over 125, thats insane! Yet i never see anyone pulled over, the only time I see a cop is when they are pulled over behind cars that have broken down, I guess so many people do it that they cant really enforce it.  but man when I got back to Victoria I was ready to kill! people were actually going the speed limit...how annoying

You act as if you haven't driven on Texas highways before.

And I thought I wanted to move to Montana. Give me a GT40 MkII w/427 (Black) and I'll be right out there in the thick of it. Lee Holman makes a brand new GT40 MkII. For a paltry $250,000. That's a freeway machine!

I have deja but since I got my DL i havent been to austin or any other large city anywhere unless its in another state and then i took a plane, it just suprised me that nobody obeyed the speedlimit, however I must say that bigcity driving, despite being fast is alot better than these small town folk here who drive stupid.

Oh yes those idealistic civil engineers of the past. Before radial tires, before power brakes, before disc brakes, before safety belts we we're designing a highway system to handle 120mph. You got to love those guys! Eisenhower is my hero! It's ironic that the Autobahn has stretches of unlimited speed and it's not even as capable of handling the speeds as our highways. I think given the wrecks that happen on the Autobahn I don't want to see that kind of speed on US highway. It is just ironic.

Careful!!! that last little hill right before you get into Austin.... I have seen 12 motorcycle cops clocking everyone that came over the hill. luckily I was #13 and didn't get caught.

I forgot, those bastages also sit on top of a bridge and clock you as you go under it. I use to live in San Marcos and worked on 6th street in Austin, so I made that trip about 6 times a week. one night after work ( about 3:30 in the morning ) as I pulled onto the hiway a wheel came rollin past me and there was debris everywhere. As I came over the hill, I saw a Corvette ( or what was left of it )upside down and spinning. A cop pulled up right after me, so I didn't stick around... but it's safe to say he didn't win that race. I happen to get a look at his license plate: it read: NO FEAR

ugghh, that will always be in the back of my mind now.  I think what they like to do now is have one cop sit on top of the hill their by Buda and then have another about 2 miles down the road, the first one clocks ya the second gets ya when ya come by.  They are ganging up, we have no hope
