AHII FV - To .wmv???
« on: February 17, 2006, 10:20:38 AM »
As the Sucject already says, my question is how to convert an AHII film using the Film Viewer to a windows player format .wmv?

I have already attempted using the windows player codec to extract the file into a .wmv format.... No Success. I don't know what to select, or what i'm looking for.

I have a Windows 2000 Proffesional, with no real movie editors to help me along, and the only codec I have is for Windows Media Player 9. This codec does extract the file to .wmv. But when I go to view it, it either doesent show anything, or it plays for 1 second and repeats. How do I get this thing started?

go to http://www.fraps.com

you can get the free verison of fraps or put out 15 bucks and have no restrictions on its use.

dont bother with the tool in the film viewer. Its junk and troublesome to use.

yeah, film viewer wont get you any films. what you need to do is open the .ahf in the film viewer, get to the point you want, pause it, set up the camera angles, and then hit play and record with fraps. fraps records straight to avi format, and then to make the movie you string those clips together in an editor. have fun!

I already looked into Fraps before you mentioned it. Yes, it does seem nice, and I understand what your talking about Pooface. But, I preffer not to spend 15 bucks to get unlimited recording time instead of the 30 second limit. I usually record 2 minutes or more when im shooting a dogfight scene. 30 Seconds just doesent cut it..:(

well what you do is press the record button as soon as it stops recording lol

it doesnt only give you 30 secs of recording time in the whole usage time, it just means that the clips you record can be a maximum of 30 seconds long. and there is no way you can just convert an ahf into an avi film lol.

fraps is the easy way to do it. the film viewer record is either broken or just impossible to use.

just download fraps, you will see how it works. like i said, the 30 second limit is only on how long your clips can be. you can shoot as many clips as you want

recording more than 30 second clips with fraps will cost you miles of harddrive space.

if capturing on good detail levels, record clips between 15-25 seconds maximum, otherwise you might lock up your PC trying to access the huge files.

it wont lock up your pc:rolleyes:

however, they arelarge files. 10 long clips can take up several gigabytes of space:lol so after you've made your film and you're happy with it, empty out your fraps clips folder lol

who ever said either of these scenarios wont be the case.

most people have a fair chunk of HD taken up if they had the PC more than a year.

most times you go to make a movie, you're going to record more than 1 or 2 clips into the fraps file.

yield i say! i outrank you! :p

fancy some flying soon, im just rendering and uploading a cool guncam movie then i'll be ready to steal your kills.
